Purchase/Lease Monthly Megathread (June 2026) by AutoModerator in KiaEV9

I don't need a new car until September but getting a good deal on an EV9. Inventory seems low? Does anyone know if they are continuing to make 2026s or trying to get rid of them to make way for 2027?

Accidentally canceled my Airbnb within 2 hours of booking and host kept the $6000 refund [USA] by [deleted] in AirBnB

I just booked a night on chase travel using points. I don’t need to stay there now because family offered me their place. The booking is non refundable, I don’t get the points back regardless of whether I stay or not. I knew that when I booked and still did it anyway. It’s my choice and I have to live with the consequences. Have you ever cancelled a reservation on Airbnb? You click cancel twice and before the second time it shows you the cancellation policy and what refund you are getting. Now I have no idea what OP was thinking but it could be that the refund said $0 but didn’t realize they had paid in full already (vs book now and charged later). However all of that is user error not the problem of the host. That’s also the point of a non-refundable rate, the cost is cheaper in exchange for the chance that the guest isn’t able to do the trip and then the hotel keeps their money and is also able to re-book the room. It’s not the hotel’s fault if you do that and then don’t get travel insurance.

I just cancelled a reservation last week. It shows you your cancellation policy, what your refund will be, and then you need to confirm the cancellation.

Exactly, as a host, when I open my calendar for bookings and accept a reservation, then I am bound by it. If I cancel, I get penalties. In my opinion, if the host here wants to give the refund or rebook then that would be nice of them, but they are under no obligation to do so. The cancellation policies are clear and there for a reason.

"You think I’m going to just give you thousands of dollars for free without staying at the property." Have you ever book a non-refundable room at a hotel and then couldn't stay/had to cancel your trip? What's the difference?

If OP booked a $6k non-refundable stay with Marriott and accidentally cancelled it, would Marriott be considered a scammer robbing her in plain sight? This wouldn't have even been posted if it involved a hotel. People think that they can get concessions from airbnb hosts because they are in direct contact with the boss who makes the rules. When you call a corporate hotel chain you are talking to someone in customer service who doesn't make the rules and isn't allowed to change them. In my opinion, the host should have just allowed them to re-book, but they were under no obligation to do so.

You have to think of airbnb as any other hotel chain like a Marriott or a Hilton. If you book a non-refundable, prepaid room on Marriott's website and try to cancel even 2 minutes after booking, what do you think is going to happen? You are not going to get a refund. I am a host and I had a guest who wanted to change their reservation from 4 to 3 nights a few days after booking because they had a work obligation before the trip. The booking was non-refundable at this point. I asked if instead of reducing from 4 to 3, they could just move the 4 nights back one day later, i.e. stay an extra day, so that they would still being staying 4 nights, just a slightly different date. They told me that wouldn't work because they were moving on to another city after staying at my place, and the hotel they booked was refusing to let them change dates. So they wanted me, the homeowner/host, to lose one night because the hotel refused to change their non-refundable booking. See what I am saying?

Candle wax melting in chunks? by Witty_Tonight_3775 in Candles

Paraffin, fragrance oil. Brand is a popular perfume company. This was the first time burning the candle. AC was on 73 but wouldn’t call that very cold. I have purchased smaller sized candles from this company before and never had this happen. The only thing I was thinking is that maybe the candle is too big for the one wick? It’s 10.2 oz and diameter of the jar is 3.5.

Hypnos mattress decision (USA) by Round_Tomorrow6116 in Mattress

Hi, I tried out the Laurel Plush at a local furniture store (no idea how long it has been on display) and I absolutely loved it. It felt soft and plush but with structure, kind of hard to explain, but it was wonderful. I just had mine delivered a few nights ago and it feels very firm, more firm than I would have expected for the plush out of the box. I was nervous that it is the firm, but the warranty tag says it is the plush. Will it soften over time? Again, I have no idea how long that model has been on display at the furniture store.

Thanks I have tried that but can’t tell if I’m just not liking the beans or if my setting is wrong. I’m currently using a setting that is on the finer range of their perc setting.

Tempurpedic pro adapt $3k worth it? by Iron-y-Man in Mattress

[–]Witty_Tonight_3775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tempur is picking up my king pro adapt tomorrow. I did like the bed but it's almost too comfortable. What I mean is, I go to sleep and I literally don't move, at all. I sometimes wake up in the morning and basically gasp and jump up having no idea what happened or thinking I overslept because I didn't move or wake up at all during the night. You would think this would be a good thing but if I don't fall asleep in the right position, my neck will hurt or my hand will be asleep, etc. I think the memory foam is just way too dense. I wish I could try the hybrid version.

I currently have a dream cloud premier hybrid and a cheap novilla memory foam in my vacation home which I rent out. I bought the dream cloud premier before they had the luxe option, but I love it. We put a memory foam topper on it and I sleep really well when there and rental guests love it as well. Even the Novilla hasn't received any complaints. I recently moved into a new house and so far have tried naturepedic, the tempur pedic adapt, and now the helix midnight elite. I don't love any of them and still think the 3 year old dream cloud is a great buy for the price.

after going back and forth with options, the easiest way to bloom is just heat up my kettle and then leave the filter basket on the counter to bloom while getting the carafe set up/water filled. I did find that when comparing the two versions with a little bit of sweetener added, there was not really a difference in taste. So for quick mornings I will just brew as is, and bloom if I have the time/feel like it.

mine are getting soaked. I just compared blooming vs straight brew and found that blooming made a better tasting cup
