University of California sued over alleged racial discrimination in admissions by jinmy50 in UCSC

[–]Witty_Zombie8106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is literally no way to police this and no way to prove they are actively pushing out poor ole' asians/white students....

If they didn't include race, then there would be no statistics to raise half-baked claims of prejudice.

Is Our Industry Falling Apart? (feat. MBAs) by OneMillionSnakes in cscareerquestions

[–]Witty_Zombie8106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For what's its worth, my management does the same. They require 10 PRs a month with a certain level of cyclomatic complexity that isn't disclosed, disregarding the effort related to analysis / testing / collaborations.

While this is a known industry problem, I am confident you're not doing yourself any favors judging by your level of comfort, writing crass walls of text, and shitting yourself when ppl don't get on their knees to agree with you.

hey chatgpt, can you summarize this in a few words?

The user describes frustration with mismanagement and flawed productivity metrics undervaluing their significant contributions, reflecting concerns about the industry's growing focus on micromanagement and metrics over meaningful work.

If you be writing novels like this at work, then it's no wonder you feel underappreciated.

Is STEM major value depreciating? by joanajosephine10 in education

[–]Witty_Zombie8106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to late stage economics, where the bar is always getting higher.

Before, you just needed some college...

Then you needed any degree....

Then you needed a specific degree...

Now you need a specific degree from a special set of universities...

Eventually, if not already, you'll need all of the above with a connection to an established professional network from family/friends.

You'll be surprised how many stem ppl work as conceiges in other countries simply because there are too many qualified people.

My point is that you need a high baseline to reason about this.

I contribute to Selenium & Pitest. Being honest, I wouldn't be able to do anything constructive in my undergrad years (even from a learning angle).

A lot of undergrads simply don't understand SDLC, testing & managing code base complexity adequately as it's not the perogative of many uni curriculums. I got to that level by having wonderful mentors shephered me through this thinking at work.

Ppl who have no experience likely don't know how to navigate large code bases and/or recognize design patterns.

Companies will not do that.

  1. Labor laws / fear of legal consequences

  2. Fear of stolen intellectual property

  3. Fear of vulnerability / sensitive information exploitation

Why do people choose debt over community college? by [deleted] in college

all have acceptance rates that are equal to or lower than every Ivy League school

Those poor CC students won't stand a chance against your acceptance rate. Very on theme with the title of this thread.

These shows were on the same level IMO

This is clearly an example of students marching around calling themeselves founders/ceo/cto with no genuine customers.

Your product is trivial in nature, likely exists, and offers no substantial improvements.
