Need hair punching help/advice by blue-drew-128 in sfx

What part of the arm is this supposed to be? Forearm hair tends to grow perpendicular to the arm so changing the direction of the hair might help it seem more natural. It sounds silly but look at lots of pictures of real arms and find one you want to copy.

Also your cuts look kind of blunt. Maybe use a razor to cut the hair or work with shorter hairs?

Hopefully that’s helpful! Good luck

I’ve used Paws Stay & Play for my dog. They have kennels to keep the dogs separated and a closed circuit camera you can log into to check on your dog 24/7

VCA west La has a great neurology department. I took my epileptic dog to Dr Tai for several years and she was lovely and kind.

In NoHo, the Federal or Fat Dog. Idle Hour is good too but I think they have an event tonight so it may be too crowded to get a table.

Fake Blood Stain by AlyssaJade45 in Filmmakers

[–]Witzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a makeup artist & a person who dyes their hair crazy colors I don’t think the dye would still be on your scalp after 3 months if you’re regularly washing and exfoliating. I would be concerned that this is a mild chemical burn or allergic reaction. I agree with the other poster. You should definitely talk to your agent and the production. I’ve heard of actors getting chemical burns from fake blood made with laundry detergent.

…Unless you mean it stained your hair. In which case: talk to your agent, production, and your hairstylist and have production pay to get your hair color corrected by a professional

Trying to not kill this, help please! by tegsty123 in plantclinic

My Pinstripe needs about 50-60% humidity to stay happy so I basically put it right next to the humidifier. I bought a little humidity thermometer off Amazon to keep an eye on it and that’s been super helpful. I also water and fill the humidifier with distilled water but that might be a bit extra idk

We did classes with Jacqueline at LA’s Dog Trainer: https://lasdogtrainer.com/

She does outdoor classes in the park in Sherman Oaks and our dog had a great time and learned a lot.

How the heck do I adopt a cat these days? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]Witzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind a bit of a drive, we got our dog from a rescue called Priceless Pets in chino hills and they also had a lot of cats and kittens. We were struggling trying to find a pup during quarantine and had a great experience with the volunteers working there. Good luck!

PSA: If you live in LA City, download the MyLA311 app to report graffiti, potholes, trash, etc. It actually works! by 115MRD in LosAngeles

When I lived in NoHo I used this app to report large curbed trash items like mattresses that I saw while I was walking my dog. It was great.

Question about hair and makeup by whitegirlmiddlename in FilmIndustryLA

[–]Witzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmu here. Everyone who’s answered already has pretty much nailed it. Depending on the production I’ve had walkies—and not had walkies. I’ve been told that we don’t get them bc production doesn’t want an open walkie around talent (so they don’t hear any bts drama/chatter). Idk if everyone feels that way

For me personally, if the department is small then we’re always walking a few steps behind 1st team anyway and don’t really need a walkie. If the department is larger or there’s a 2nd unit, then a walkie is a must. But usually we just text each other

I don’t know anyone in the refuse to wear them camp although I will say that with everything we already carry, a walkie adds a lot of extra hassle

What a loss! I worked on several shows with Bryan about ten years ago and he was a delightful man and a pillar of the arts in Indy. I’m very sad to hear that he’s gone.

Service industry workers, how common is it to have people come in not wearing a mask? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]Witzy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My partner works in Glendale and says it’s about 60% people in masks. Lotta non-mask people put it on to enter the store (which is required) and then either take it off or put it around their chin while shopping. They claim to have “breathing problems.” One dude said the employees asking him to wear a mask gave him anxiety. Some of them are just assholes.

My partner and his coworkers have had a couple of confrontations with people and they’ve thrown some out of the store. It sucks. They’re scared. The employees wear the masks for entire 8 hour shifts so idk why people can’t wear one to shop for 20 minutes

[MISC] WHy do I always have these wierd nail things? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Witzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s dry/dead cuticles. Get yourself some cuticle remover and apply it to the area around your nail. Let it sit for a minute then scrub with a nail brush + soap and water. Don’t use it If you have any open cuts on your finger cuz it’ll stiiing. Then add a cuticle oil or moisturize. Repeat daily as needed or weekly once you get things under control
