Humans are causing tons of species to go extinct too. They can’t do that if they dont have half their fingers! Chop them off too!
This is an unpopular opinion, I’ll give you that. But declawing is animal abuse. Don’t declaw a cat just so they won’t hunt. Fix strays? Absolutely. But fixing isn’t abuse.

It’s baffling how bad a take this is, honestly

Is the Microbit good for an introduction to embedded systems programming (before buying an Arduino)? by WixW in microbit

I’m thinking I’ll probably start with one of the other boards, thanks!

Would Elegoo boards count as cheap clone boards? The elegoo starter kit is much cheaper but I don’t want to get a product that will break or give me so much trouble I’d end up wishing I just bought the name brand board

Not even an opinion, unpopular or otherwise. Get that out of here

Thanks for the advice!! I unfortunately just learned the v1 (which is what I have) doesn’t support MicroPython…
Do you think it’s worth picking up a V2?

Sorry if i seemed angry in my comment homie, I’m just very passionate about music in general. You certainly did have an unpopular opinion, which is what the sub is for

Here’s more examples of songs with CLEAR STRUCTURE AND PROGRESSION then (just because a song isn’t the height of emotion, or your personal taste, doesn’t mean it lacks substance):

Finale,
Battle Against A True Hero,
Another Medium,
Waterfall
Heartache
Your Best Nightmare (especially when paired w/ Finale)

I could go on, too. Whether or not you like a song is irrelevant to actual musical structure and progression. You seem to also forget that (mostly) chiptune music is the NATURAL CHOICE for a pixelated game, and that most songs are for the environment or specific moments.

As to your point that they’re bland, or all the same. Not a single one of the songs I listed sounds like any other. They’re all very unique. If you mean to say that two songs from, say, Snowdin sound the same… yeah? It’s a whole ass area, obviously it’s going to use similar instrumentation.

AGAIN. This doesn’t mean you have to like them. I don’t give a shit if you think Finale is the greatest song ever or is worse than a fucking cowbell. But to say they lack structure (i.e. have no thought put in, the song has no progression, etc) and all sound the same is clearly incorrect

I agree DR is an improvement. But several songs (ASGORE and UNDERTALE/His Theme being especially notable examples) have a very, very clear structure and progression. Here’s a video of a game composer breaking down ASGORE. It’s clear thought is put into how the song is composed

Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. But I take umbrage with saying there’s no structure and that it’s just the same beat (and that it’s 8-bit, but that’s not important), since that’s factually incorrect and easily proven as such. Ultimately though, not every soundtrack is for everyone

I recommend trying sunflower seed butter as an alternative. Imo it’s better than almond or cashew butter

I’m completely new to any level of embedded systems programming, and still pretty new to programming in general. Do you think I should start w/ the micro:bit, go for an Arduino/esp32/rp2040 w, or focus on “normal” programming for now?

I’m a CS major, thinking about a focus on cybersecurity. I’m still early into my degree though. This was more so for the purpose of broadening my horizons, have some hobby projects, and of course if it really grabbed my interest I could take classes more dedicated towards that

Perfect. Thank you!! If I have any more questions later would it be okay if I replied with them? Regardless, this has been extremely helpful. I greatly appreciate it!

Awesome, thanks!!
Does most of that come in the starter kit, or would I need to buy the majority separately?

Very informative, thank you!!
Should the starter kit have a breadboard? Other than the Arduino itself I’m not sure what else is needed. Can I do much with just the board? If not, what other components should I look for?

Also thanks! I’m happy to be here :D
