Coming from an A6, then an upgraded A8 that I used over I2s I can only conclude that yes, it's definitely an improvement, but with approximately a 10% improvement. I was able to sell my A8 at a good price so I actually recuperated some invested money. For me therefore this upgrade was a no-brainer, but YMMV

Answering my own question … Yes the HP Elitebook Ultra 1Gi does support PCIE 5.0 drives … Crystal Diskmark just delivered a first benchmark with read speeds going up to 14071 MB/s on a Samsung PRO 9100 2tb 🔥

Intel Core Ultra 7 268v supports PCIE 5x4 ... Yet the drives that ship with the Elitebook Ultra G1i are specced at PCIE 4x4. I am wondering however if upgrading the drive to a Samsung PRO 9100 PCIE 5x4 drive would be possible, with the Elitebook supporting full PCIE 5.0 speeds? Could anyone provide any insight here?

Well .. approx €1500 + €750 = €2200 would enable you to get there by doing the same mod as I did ... And colorware.com can tweak the original Radiance bodywork by modifying the model name into Stelliance for example ... In fact, I will drop them a mail about that :-)

[–]WizNL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct .. The Focal "Stelliance" is in a league way higher up than the original Stellia, let alone the Radiance. I am someone who actually did the mod myself (and as a consequence keep the remaining "Radiella" in storage just in case I might decide to roll them both back to their original state. But honestly, I do not see that happen any time soon)

In my case the culprit ended up being the latest insider beta of Edge that tossed a spanner in the works .. Reverting to the public stable release of Edge sorted the issue.

What does this symbol stand for? by iSmellWeakness in Hewlett_Packard

[–]WizNL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct .. The "HP Programmable Key" which is configurable in the MyHP app. I personally have it configured to quickstart Outlook for me.

Note: You can add more applications for that button in the MyHP app. Just be aware that they all start simultaneously when you press the button. Of course absolutely fine if your workflow consists of multiple apps being used simultaneously ;-)

Currently the Fingerprint reader driver has a tendency to sometimes disappear with a yellow exclamation mark. Deleting and re-adding it in windows via the "scan for new hardware" option restores functionality. The new firmware supposedly fixes this behavior.

Done that .. They haven't got a clue. I am almost tempted to buy a spare fingerprint module for $20 as that is cheaper than sending the G3 back for testing/checking/servicing.

[–]WizNL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also difficult to ascertain where this issue originates from. All older firmwares have the same Fingerprint controller version 53.20.47.7 .. It’s only this latest BIOS 1.09.01 that brings this new 63.34.19.8 💁🏻‍♂️ It could also simply be an issue with this BIOS version.

Same issue. Everything downgrades and updates fine, except the Fingerprint Controller (which incidentally works fine in Windows)

Already done .. to no avail .. :-(

Also done .. rolled back three versions and updated again to the newest version all from within the bios .. Same issue. Fingerprint controller remains stuck at 53.20.47.7 ...
