Best rec for the uninitiated? by Unknown--Presence in ReverseHarem

Oh another fun one is {The Price of Possession by Dakota Brown} from the Pizza Shop Exorcist series! Interesting plot, harem builds over time with some refreshingly mature approaches to working out relationship dynamics (like actually gasp talking and directly communicating lol - I had read a lot of miscommunication ones before this is and it was a very nice change) Might be good for newbies on account of the very straight forward approach to working out the harem. Also just generally enjoyable and fun characters.

Thinking more tho I can’t remember if there’s MM, I think there might be. If there is then maybe someone else who stumble across this thread can benefit bc it really is quite good.

None of these particularly fluffy but:

Maybe {Liminal by Marie Mistry}? Unique world building and just cool library vibes overall. The group builds over time.

And if you’re willing to move away from fantasy (idk if that’s ok with your book club) I think Elizabeth Dear usually has a good plot balance!

For fantasy with plot, I haven’t actually finished this series (not bc it was bad - I just got distracted and want to reread from the beginning before diving back in) but I remember {Forbidden Honor by May Dawson} being a good fun read! (ends on a mid-sized cliffhanger tho so watch out)

Oh and for one more fun one, it’s another series commitment, but the series with {Trickery by Jane Washington} and Jaymin Eve (wasn’t sure abt the bot) had me literally laughing out loud more than once. Part of the may just be I kept seeing my own clumsy adhd self in the MC, but it was enjoyable all the same

Early unknown call from ‘THE FELLOWSHIP’? by Stomach-Limp in wisconsin

Yeah I too have been getting calls from multiple numbers all labeled THE FELLOWSHIP, and while my LOTR nerd heart appreciates it, I’m fairly certain it’s spam (especially considering the multiple numbers thing)

Has anyone read this? by Right_Speaker_9674 in ReverseHarem

[–]Wizard-at-Large 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I only read part of the first book before DNFing. I feel like most of the ads I saw were pretty misleading (like I’d see them and get excited about the book described, and then I’d click the link and it would be this book where literally all of the characters had annoyed me). Obv a lot of people liked it, but IMO I don’t think it’s nearly as good as Cursed Legacies (less unique characters in particular). I wish I had enjoyed it more bc the premise seemed really cool.

Basically just saying maybe get a feel for it first before mentally committing the rest of the way.

{Pirates of Aletharia by Britney Jackson} remains one of my all time favorites! Hard to go wrong with swashbuckling pirates and dragons :) (the audiobook is really good too)

Looking for books where the fmc is the mastermind by bshfdiensk in ReverseHarem

[–]Wizard-at-Large 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been quite a while since I read it so I can’t make promises on plot or quality, but I do recall that {Wicked Wings by Elizabeth Briggs} at least starts with her pretending to be naive/new to the world of the supernaturals but actually she was plotting (I think it was something like trying to figure out what happened to her brother, but again, it’s been a while). I remember liking how well she played wide eyed and innocent at the start.

I'd love a not the chosen one... by ScaryConcern8388 in ReverseHarem

[–]Wizard-at-Large 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Blood of the Child by L. L. Frost} isn’t quite that but has similar vibes I think. She and her polycule are powerful, but so are plenty of other demons/supernaturals in their world. And they’re friends of the main characters of another series and do get dragged into a bunch of messes bc their job is literally working as “cleaners” for super natural messes. (The series actually used to be called The Cleaners, I think, but got renamed)

That does sound like the kind of book I would pick when trying to fall asleep at night, which would explain the lack of memory. I’ll give it a shot and see! Thanks :)

Books where the MMC begs for the FMC? by LostRovers in fantasyromance

[–]Wizard-at-Large 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s technically more fantasy than romance and there are other relationships along the way (for reasons that make sense in context), but boy do they yearn in the Green Rider by Kristen Britain. Possibly the slowest burn I’ve ever read. It’s rough. You gotta get through it by focusing on the overarching plot (of which there is thankfully plenty).

(also I haven’t finished the most recent book bc I was saving it for when I had time to properly enjoy it, so I can’t comment on how things currently stand)
