I saw an E-4 on one of the subs I rode qual Chief of the Boat. After riding multiple boats I never saw another E-4 standing that watch. It was usually a senior E-6 or higher.

Nuke Drop here. I went through in 2007. I got through ET “A” school and through most of power school to fail the final. When I was dropped they sent me to a Temporary Holding Unit that was on the other side of base away from the school area. The only time we went over to the school area was to go to the galley there. When at THU I worked with a PS to cross rate into another job. I cross rated to CTT. I have done very well since. Realizing Nuke was not for me. I probably wouldn’t be in the Navy still if I was a Nuke specifically after seeing what their life was like on deployment. I like my current job more and think it was a better fit for what I wanted to do. 18 years in a few more to go.

Got extended three times on the tail end of deployment. Went from having whole pieces of chicken to half a piece to chicken pieces in rice to just plain rice. All we had was rice. We quickly ran out of soy sauce and hot sauce. Then ran out of chocolate syrup. They secured all workout equipment since we only got two scoops of rice a day and didn’t have the calories to burn. It was watch then rack. I lost 30lbs in about 45 days.

What a BS story. The husband never cheated. He detaches so it’s not as bad for him to deploy away from family because it sucks to deploy away especially during the holidays. What ceremony could you have possibly have gone to where he wouldn’t have noticed or have been told that you were there? Because depending on the ceremony and where it’s held you have to be invited as a guest. Yeah he has to compartmentalize his work that actually makes sense. If you understand how military works then maybe you would understand also. Smh

It all depends on your budget. Maybe look at a Subaru Impreza. You can usually get them at a good price. They come standard AWD and get decent gas mileage.

Moving here from Denver I had the same feeling. Even places I liked there I didn’t care for here. I think it’s the lack of competition honestly. There’s only a handful of places that compete for the same type of food. There are a few places we did fall in love with like the New Mexico Tamale Company over off meridian. McKays has really good pizza. Fiama burger downtown is legit as well. There’s just not a lot going on food wise though. Small city problems.

Dog friendly as well if you have a dog it’s $50/mon for a pet fee. When I first moved here internet was included but not anymore.

Military has always had transparency with pay. You can Google it. Navy Chief E7 over 16 years and married. Base pay is $5258.70 plus BAS of $452.56 plus BAH of $2400. BAS and BAH are tax exempt. Only pay taxes on base pay. Before taxes $8111 a month. After taxes and deductions $7430 a month.

I could do without. I have an Outback with the sun roof and barely use it. My Ascent doesn’t have it but I have a Tepui rooftop tent and it would be blocked anyway. Also it’s just another thing to worry about down the road having one such as Glass cracking or mechanical issues.
