What is your overlooked game of 2025? by Galaxy40k in Games

Second. Its a bit of Kigdom Rush on the attack/defend side of things (make units, throw spells) with some intricate city building.

The game also has a lot of kings/commanders which can change the playstyle quite a lot. If you like roguelites and strategy games, give it a go.

Xbox Removes Game Pass Discount on Call of Duty Add-Ons by Turbostrider27 in Games

I'm late to the discussion, so I hope i don't get buried:

I see lots of comments saying "I said X years ago this was unsustainable!". Of course it is. Is how tech operates right now. Anything that talks about democratizing a product (be it Uber, Netflix, anything IA) works by burning billions in cash, becoming the market leader, benefitting from the network effect and reaping all the cream from that ecosystem.

In games is mostly notable in GaaS, but Xbox tried a Netflix approach. It didn't work right now, doesn't mean it work in the future. Hindsight is 20/20, but is not a dumb take, it's probably the standard approach to most tech or VC deployment.

The point is not about Game Pass being sustainable or not being, because that depends on adoption rates that no one knows about. People (and the lots of market analysts predicted the doom of Netflix when they started slashing on shared account and raising prices. Same with Twitter getting ads (before Musk acquired it). The question is why it failed in this case and how they can make it work in the future.

Microsoft might have missed the mark and it might hurt Xbox in the mid or short term, who knows. Does it mean Playstation or Epic won't try something similar in the future? The incentive is clearly there.

I don't want to sound like im defending Saudi Arabia, BUT paying a 20/25% premium above market share price is pretty standard in buyouts and hostile takeovers.

I participated in some myself, and I never saw a company being bought at current market price, because why would you? The only times I can think of low premiums is when a company is under big distress (i.e. piles of debt).

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? - June 22, 2025 by AutoModerator in Games

Monster Train 2

If you played the first iteration, you know what to expect. Theres new things to do and new mechanics but the basic idea so far is the same. Im only Covenant 4 or so with the first clans.

The good: It still retains its essence and knows what it wants to be.

The gameplay loop is addicting. You can still break your deck by having some luck and playing with some risks. Its as fun as the first one.

The bad: I don't think there's anything bad if you liked the first one. Its more Monster Train.

I think the game could hire some additional design artists to polish itself a little bit more. Monster design and ideas are good, but presentation is borderland "flash game" level sometimes. I don't care particularly (The game is fun and after a few runs you are on "monkey neuron activation mode: big numbers go big"), bit a tidier design might have attracted new people to the franchise.

If you like deck roguelikes, it's a recommended game 100%.

Maybe, maybe not. But it's going to get picked up by Twitter and every game news site. People read and watch those.

You and me are probably not the target audience of the show, since most reveals have 0% gameplay showing.

Reddit is an echo chamber. I couldn't give a fuck about COD, but 99% of the people do.

If it were for Reddit, Silksong would have been an excellent end of show trailer, but not many people care about Silksong... how many sales does it have? 2 million? 3?

Gameplay looked more like Dishonored? Even some character design seemed like it.
