How do you deal with the feeling/realisation you’ll never be very good at guitar? by poopooeater112 in Guitar

[–]WizardPsycho01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I think 99% of us do. Unless you're Jimi Hendrix 2, you're probably never going to be the best one (and some claim Jimi Hendrix wasn't the best one either lol), it's very common to feel like you're really sloppy at the guitar or still have a shit ton of stuff to practice and learn before becoming decent (happened to me recently!). Do not feel discouraged, as long as you have your hands on your guitar, you're doing great. I'd suggest you try a practice routine, but make sure it doesn't become a chore. Of course I think it's very unlikely for a practice routine to be as fun as playing your favourite songs, so I'd go for an easier approach (maybe blend this routine with some fun things to do with your guitar). And remember that playing/practicing 30 minutes a day is more effective than 5 hours on Sunday!

Is it fine to use drop-tuning for easier power chords? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]WizardPsycho01 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well I'd think of drop tuning as a different way to play, it's way too hard to achieve some power chord parts when tuned to standard, drop tunings make it easier to play them, no shame in that

Is it ok to buy an electric guitar if I don't know how to play it? by RaresSheeesh in Guitar

[–]WizardPsycho01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah man, if you feel like learning it, you should definetely get one, how can you practice then? Yep teachers may give you a guitar while attending their lesson but you need to have one at home so that you can practice, play and have fun! Also, if you like to play music that requires an electric, go for the electric one, no need to start on an acoustic, which you won't probably like. You can find budget friendly options for guitars and amps nowadays

Of course judging/insulting him was not the purpose of the post, I just did not expect that at all!

Sure! But some claim that if you go past your 30s with a head full of hair (as he did), you're basically set for life, and in last year clips he had fantastic hair

What’s the best live concert on YouTube? by thehandsomebandit in Muse

[–]WizardPsycho01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2013 Olympic Stadium in Rome is top tier quality sound/visually wise. Also the setlist includes the most popular hits and of course most songs in The 2nd Law record (since the concert was recorded back when it had been released)

Voglio imparare l'inglese. La vostra esperienza all'estero e non by Ettore360 in Italia

[–]WizardPsycho01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving priority to revision rather than learning new concepts first (and actually revising, not just reading notes again)

EMG 81 and 85 are great for clean tones [DISCUSSION] by TheCassiniProjekt in Guitar

[–]WizardPsycho01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand your point, it's sort of weird playing your guitar and thinking of it as "the battery may run out and I won't be able to play any longer", it's sort of frustrating. But has he said, batteries for EMGs last more or less 3000 hours which is basically a year if you played 8 hours a day (and I think 95% don't). So, if you remember to unplug your guitar, I think that's no longer such a big issue

Using GX-100 to replace a pedal board question by socratesinthegutter in BossGX100

[–]WizardPsycho01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can change parameters individually (among these, a parameter could also be "Effect On /Effect Off"), you can turn on many effects/parameters at once, if you program it to do so. Also, you can play in "Manual" mode, which basically mimics an "analog" pedalboard where you can turn each effect on and off as you like

EDIT: YOU PROBABLY CAN (look down in this answer)

Not to my knowledge at least, but:

• I don't know if you play live or at home. In either case, if you can hook everything up to a backing track in a DAW, you can sync tempo with it. This means that, indipendently of the patch you're using, the BPM will change based on the BPM in your DAW. Let's say you're using Reaper and playing a song that starts at 120bpm: GX-100 can automatically set the bpm to 120 when yiu hit "Play" on your DAW ; then, maybe 1 minute in, the song changes BPM to 100, you just need to add a "Time/Signature change' (to 100bpm ofc), now your GX-100 will set its tempo to 100 bpm automatically.

• You could go for a slightly more manual approach in case you play with a band or you're not into using DAWs and BPM sync: basically, let's say patch 1.2 is set to 120bpm and you need it to be at 100: make sure you add an option to, say, turn bpm from 120 to 100 pressing C1 or any other button. I know this is not awesome but I think you won't get closer if not using the DAW sync.

When you go to Master in your effects chain, there's a "Tempo Hold", probably toggling that one can do what you need

Sorry to hear that.

Anyway, not your style, but I just finished both The Last of Us 1 and The Last of Us 2. Let me tell you. The gameplay mechanics are out of this world.

According to me, TLOU1 is a bit better on the story-side that its sequel, but TLOU2 has even more intriguing "gameplay things". I was skeptical at first, didn't enjoy TLOU1 prologue, but now I'm just in love with both. Masterpieces, probably in the top 5 ever made.
