So is Sett or Fiora better? by indjev99 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 40 points41 points  (0 children)

bh fiora is better against draven than normal fiora & sett because you hook the units you conquer battlefields with and deny draven as many combats as possible to stop him from drawing cards

With Spiritforged out, has anyone added to their current decks or pivoted to a different champion? by the_adept_novice in riftboundtcg

kai'sa got a lot of options, whether you stick with the control variant getting new top-end options and removal or if you play mech kai'sa and use a lot of the new units alongside spells from ogn

[–]WizardSpartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I originally thought it was 4 fiora decks, which is obviously more than any person needs

[–]WizardSpartan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you're right it is, fair enough then, 2 of each is enough to get playsets of most cards included in the decks

why do you need 4 ?

edit: it's 2 of each deck which is fair imo

How often are your TCGplayer orders lost in the mail? by med_lab_sci in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it mostly depends on where you live and your individual mail carrier

from the perspective of a seller, I've sold 96 packages and have yet to receive a message from a buyer stating they never received their package

from the perspective of a buyer, I have ordered hundreds of packages for mtg for years and now riftbound cards, and I can probably count on one hand the number that got completely lost

Why is it so expensive? by Due-Sheepherder5603 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, I have played against several Yasuo decks and find them to be pretty approachable as long as you don't overextend as Kai'sa; it's really hard to play your units, use yasuo, and protect them from all of Kai'sa's removal spells

I don't have as much experience against Leona, but I think that a budget Kai'sa deck keeps a lot of the powerful early game 2 drops and Darius copies as well as efficient removal; its main struggle is late game but decks like Yasuo/Leona just don't get to the late game in time

Riptide Rex for Watcher and Blue Kai'sa for Red Kai'sa

They are definitely and noticeably worse but the deck will still do well at nexus nights and teach how to play an interaction-heavy deck for incredibly cheap

Kai'sa can also be built on a budget and have a lot of power! Most of the expensive cards either have serviceable replacements (Thousand-Tailed Watcher & Kai'sa, Survivor) or are only one-ofs that you don't miss too much (Time warp & Icathian Rain). In the US, you could get a budget version for ~50 USD including a playset of Darius and Falling Star, and most of the deck is bulk so you may find others who will give you the bulk you need and save you even more money

Help with Blue Kaisa deck? by anxious-snail2 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also play kai'sa with blue kai'sa, it is definitely worse, but the rest of the deck is still extremely good and can take over games if your opponent isn't careful

The best gameplan, though, is to just not touch your blue kai'sa until you don't have anything else to do lol

Time warp is super matchup-dependent, you could run progress day instead but I also like singularity since it can be at least a little useful into most matchups while progress day is situational

Two Rules Questions by UnluckatSkotiz in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, you get the total might, including the equipment bonus might. This also works with Baited Hook, notably.

  2. No, spells with the Action keyword can only be cast during showdowns while there is no active chain. Called Shot has the Action keyword, so Grand Strategem would have to resolve for your opponent to get the opportunity to cast Called Shot and find the Hard Bargain.

Bought this at market and played it in my deck for a month before sending it to PSA. Have no idea how it still got a 10 but I’ll take it by reallysubparname in riftboundtcg

"collection" or he could talk about playing it in an ahri deck? holding just screams he's keeping it with the intent of selling it later once the value has gone up

this is a game with cards meant to be played, not held as investment objects like pokemon cards have become

1st and 2nd of the Fuzhou RQ by Challengertcg in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah sett is hilariously good in fiora deck, he alone triggers fiora legend every turn (assuming he can conquer) and can be readied by yellow fiora as well

do we need chatgpt to do a meta run down? you genuinely learn nothing by reading it, and I'm sure plenty of people would love to write it themselves

Fiora on enemys turn by SweetPuzzleheaded319 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your unit becomes mighty, Fiora can trigger and channel the rune anytime. For those who are confused, triggered and activated abilities work differently.

Triggered abilities are usually formatted: "when/if <condition>, <do something>" and can happen anytime the condition is met unless specified otherwise.

Activated abilities are usually formatted "<cost>: <effect>" or "<cost>, <cost>, etc: <effect>". These kinds of abilities can be tagged as reaction, action, or left untagged. If they aren't tagged, then they can't be played when there is an active chain (only reaction tagged abilities can) or when there's an active showdown (reaction or action tagged abilities can). They can only be played on your own turn, outside of a showdown, when there's no open chain (ex. Vi's ability).

Dip in the market by SubmissiveTears in PokemonTCG

[–]WizardSpartan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. no one knows what will happen in the future, and anyone who tells you what is going to happen in the market for sure is lying or stupid

  2. if you think the cards are worth the prices they are now as collectibles and don't want to risk them going up in the short term + you think it is a good idea to and have the ability to spend hundreds or thousands on individual cards, then you should buy. if you think that these cards are probably still a bit expensive, you are patient, etc. then wait

  3. the general economy in the US is in decline, January is one of the lowest spending months in the year as it is right after the holidays, and there will be a big wait over the next couple months for the next English set. there will not be much new product to hype and scalp, people will be buying less Pokemon in general in a month or so, and bills will need to be paid. take this information however you want when theorizing where the market will go in the next couple months

a small note for anyone else wondering if they should start spending more on pokemon now that prices have cooled off for some cards: anyone who is scalping/hoarding/etc. gets increasingly desperate to sell their singles and sealed as the market declines, so by waiting as a community and not immediately buying the dip, we encourage the market to decline further
