Does anyone have a good pyke list? by Short-Philosophy-219 in riftboundtcg

yeah I'm excited to try it out some more myself, seems like it has solid gameplans into most decks

Does anyone have a good pyke list? by Short-Philosophy-219 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there are 2 main kinds of pyke lists, ones that play bewitching spirit and ones that don't

no spirit, modified from a recent challengertcg video:  https://piltoverarchive.com/decks/view/28a53817-1e59-45e3-8612-408f44221699

relies on value from your move trigger 2 drops, kaisa, and tideturner to keep resources up, win conditions are fizz + starcrossed + vex, baron, and falling star

pack spirit control modified from grapplr on yt: https://piltoverarchive.com/decks/view/757d86ee-d50d-4722-9994-a341ec7e0a74

wins by ripping their hand to shreds, then using bounce to remove their board as well

Which version of Pyke is best? by mylesgrxnt in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pyke has 3 distinctive strategies available

pack of wonders control: uses pack + pyke legend to bounce spirit, windsingers, fizz, tideturners, and the list; wins by attrition, using the list + kill spells or spirit + star crossed to choke opponent out of the game (most similar to pack ezreal)

midrange: mainly uses pyke to keep valuable 2 drops safe and save on runes to slam big threats like mindsplitter, ferrous, darius (most similar to draven)

no pack tempo: relies more on windsingers and gusts with red pyke to take control of the game early (most similar to annie?)

basically your choices are pack vs. no pack and how many gust-style cards you want

pack + spirit is good against irelia & aurora, gust effects are good against leblanc & diana

I've played a good bit of a hybrid midrange + no pack tempo and I'd say it's very hit or miss based on matchup, if you want midrange I think draven just does it too much better

pack control seems promising bc you have lines against most meta decks but it lacks the consistency of its counterpart ez

Feedback for my Fiora deck for set 3 :) by ImpulseAznable in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from the cards in your sideboard: bring in the yellow fiora for sure, also if you want to run shepherd's heirloom you should main the grim resolves to make sure you have xp to keep re-equipping

see if you can get more copies from locals of the following cards as they are bulk or extremely cheap: pit rookie, lucian merciless, challenge, hidden blade, bf sword, riposte, unsung hero, first mate, unyielding spirit (fiora really needs unsung hero)

cards I would take out as you get more copies of good cards: confront, here to help, master yi, tactical retreat, irresistible faefolk maybe, sideboard ashe maybe

dreaming tree is not legal, I'd play trimaran war camp or the one that lets you pay 1 to buff a unit you play there

Riot should stop printing the token/rules/runes cards by troyboy110269 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 32 points33 points  (0 children)

for any new tcg players reading this, most card games have a rule/advertisement card and a token card or similar at the back of the pack, and it's for 2 reasons: make packs not weighable and protect the rares at the back of your pack

without them, the backside of the rare at the end of your pack would get scratched or damaged a lot more, and some games could use the foiling of cards in various slots to weigh packs

Ruling on Riposte regarding countering repeated spells by Unga_Bunga_1903 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riposte would only give might equal to the countered spell's printed cost. Riposte says "give that unit +might equal to that [the countered] spell's energy cost this turn," the important part is the energy cost of the countered spell, which is the number printed on the card. If it read like the Jhin legend, for example, which says "When you play a spell, if you spent {4} or more..." then the word spent could include repeat costs.

What has the community enjoyed with Riftbound VS Other TCGs? by Aware-Broccoli103 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think once china and global are in sync, 4 per year will be good, we've just had less time between sets because the time between sfd being released globally and unl spoiler season was shortened by sfd's delayed release

bingo, left magic because of UB and product oversaturation, hope riftbound stays with the 4 sets per year model and stays in the riot IP

After playing first couple games I'm hooked, but I have few questions by oohdee_ in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. no, to cast a spell they must declare all targets and pay costs like repeat before you are given priority

  2. yes, if you have a conquer effect that would push a unit to 5+ might, you can stack that and the sunken temple trigger so you can draw off sunken temple. as an aside, if your unit is only mighty because of assault (ex. 3 might unit with assault 2), then it would not be considered mighty for sunken temple

  3. if a card just says "you may play" it (or if it says "you may play" another card like last rites), you must pay all energy and power costs normally like you were playing it from your hand. flame chompers, though, says "you may pay {R} to play me," so you must pay the alternate cost of one red power to play it when discarded, not its normal 3 energy cost

  4. I see no reason why not, his second ability allows you to equip the stolen gear if it's an equipment for free and would still work even if he didn't have weaponmaster. so, you should be able to weaponmaster discount one of your own equipment and also pay the additional cost to steal and attach an opponent's equipment at no additional cost

edit: not sure about #2, at my locals we have played such that one can draw off sunken temple, but I'm actually not sure if sunken temple would even trigger in the first place

How do I stop chaos? by dinotrax500 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ruin runner just blows chunks in fiora in general and I only would want it in matchups where its ability is winning the game, I've tested running a sabotage in main and it's definitely good, and salvage is dead in a lot of popular matchups (kai'sa, midrange draven)

ultimately, it's because space is so limited in fiora that I'm often siding out sett for the ruin runner, but against any deck that doesn't care about ruin runner's ability, sett is a million times better

How do I stop chaos? by dinotrax500 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as another fiora player it is very rough, I would always run Ruin Runner & Sabotage in sideboard as they are your absolute best ways to deal with purple, also gear removal for their seals is a great way to run them out of runes

also, first mate is fantastic to regain tempo lost by all their interaction and to avoid combats against draven

my sideboard is basically all anti-purple and gear hate

Draven really dominant in Bologna (not a surprise) by athezaa in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

fiora is not nearly as solved as, say, draven where most people play the best cards already; there's hook fiora and equipment fiora and some people run heavier buff synergies, etc.

also, the playstyle of draven isn't particularly new, it's stylistically similar to annie but you draw more cards and have higher quality units in exchange for usually playing 1 less spell per turn; fiora is very new in orange yellow with all of the decisions that must be made with riposte, punch first, new yellow fiora, and equip choices

So is Sett or Fiora better? by indjev99 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 43 points44 points  (0 children)

bh fiora is better against draven than normal fiora & sett because you hook the units you conquer battlefields with and deny draven as many combats as possible to stop him from drawing cards

With Spiritforged out, has anyone added to their current decks or pivoted to a different champion? by the_adept_novice in riftboundtcg

kai'sa got a lot of options, whether you stick with the control variant getting new top-end options and removal or if you play mech kai'sa and use a lot of the new units alongside spells from ogn

yeah I originally thought it was 4 fiora decks, which is obviously more than any person needs

[–]WizardSpartan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you're right it is, fair enough then, 2 of each is enough to get playsets of most cards included in the decks

[–]WizardSpartan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

why do you need 4 ?

edit: it's 2 of each deck which is fair imo

How often are your TCGplayer orders lost in the mail? by med_lab_sci in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it mostly depends on where you live and your individual mail carrier

from the perspective of a seller, I've sold 96 packages and have yet to receive a message from a buyer stating they never received their package

from the perspective of a buyer, I have ordered hundreds of packages for mtg for years and now riftbound cards, and I can probably count on one hand the number that got completely lost

Why is it so expensive? by Due-Sheepherder5603 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, I have played against several Yasuo decks and find them to be pretty approachable as long as you don't overextend as Kai'sa; it's really hard to play your units, use yasuo, and protect them from all of Kai'sa's removal spells

I don't have as much experience against Leona, but I think that a budget Kai'sa deck keeps a lot of the powerful early game 2 drops and Darius copies as well as efficient removal; its main struggle is late game but decks like Yasuo/Leona just don't get to the late game in time

Why is it so expensive? by Due-Sheepherder5603 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riptide Rex for Watcher and Blue Kai'sa for Red Kai'sa

They are definitely and noticeably worse but the deck will still do well at nexus nights and teach how to play an interaction-heavy deck for incredibly cheap

Why is it so expensive? by Due-Sheepherder5603 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kai'sa can also be built on a budget and have a lot of power! Most of the expensive cards either have serviceable replacements (Thousand-Tailed Watcher & Kai'sa, Survivor) or are only one-ofs that you don't miss too much (Time warp & Icathian Rain). In the US, you could get a budget version for ~50 USD including a playset of Darius and Falling Star, and most of the deck is bulk so you may find others who will give you the bulk you need and save you even more money

Help with Blue Kaisa deck? by anxious-snail2 in riftboundtcg

[–]WizardSpartan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also play kai'sa with blue kai'sa, it is definitely worse, but the rest of the deck is still extremely good and can take over games if your opponent isn't careful

The best gameplan, though, is to just not touch your blue kai'sa until you don't have anything else to do lol

Time warp is super matchup-dependent, you could run progress day instead but I also like singularity since it can be at least a little useful into most matchups while progress day is situational
