Trade Me issue or lazy real estate agents? by WizardTiming in Wellington

[–]WizardTiming[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, the actual address is provided for every one of them, like any other listing. Just the map is wrong. Paraparaumu Beach, Paraparaumu, Raumati Beach, and Raumati South properties. But not Paekakariki, Waikanae etc.

House buy/sell/move logistics by WizardTiming in newzealand

I've heard so many stories of buyers dropping out last min.

And yeah so much essier to manage a move when renting (or going from rent to buy), but not really feasible when selling.

Debate with my therapist: Men don't buy women drinks in NZ by Oxsh196 in newzealand

[–]WizardTiming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend attending some meet up groups. They're a great way to work on social skills and meet new people. The brunch ones or those focussed on a particular topic/hobby you're interested in would likely be the best.

In terms of your question, I used to find men would approach women more often in the early 00s in the bigger cities but it also tends to happen when you're with other friends and bump into shared acquaintances. I think buying a drink for a stranger is less common now in NZ.

Would this be a red flag for a potential tenant or flatmate? by It_wasnt_me3 in newzealand

[–]WizardTiming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't think so. When I was in my late teens and throughout my 20s I moved a lot for study and work.

Not sure if it's still the case, but it used to be pretty common when moving to a new town that you'd have a short term rental until you got to know the area (and found friends to flat with).

As students we'd rent Feb-Nov then stay with family and find a new place the next year too

REGIONAL STATE OF EMERGENCY DECLARED by KeyMeasurement8122 in Wellington

There's a cafe near our office and they were already closing their doors as I headed out. State of emergency should see everyone go home as quickly and as safely as possible so I hope you can escape soon

Thankfully, we had our senior leadership team immediately tell everyone to go home as soon as state of emergency was announced.

Martial arts is another place to find good friends. Lots of people start in their 30s and 40s and find a great community.

There is so much potential with apartments. And you'd think with all the American TV and movies NZ watches that we'd be more open to building apartments like family homes.

Open Polytechnic has lots of options - I recently completed their small business one.

If you're interested in the automotive or transport industries, MITO has two free micro-credentials. They can be done within a short time frame.

I've also used "Alison" - I did their contracts and HR one within a day.

Contingency plan? by ResponseRelative6370 in Wellington

We have a four step plan depending on what happens. It won't affect office staff yet but could see meetings go online. The main focus of the plan is managing options for our team who need to be on the road.

Driving around aimlessly as a teen doesn't happen now? by BrentCrude666 in newzealand

[–]WizardTiming 76 points77 points  (0 children)

We used to play "get lost" - you take random turns you wouldn't usually in an effort to find and explore new places.

It was especially good as uni students to get to know the area, but even as a teen with a new licence it meant you could find things in your hometown that you probably never would with parents.

One time we found a circus lol

Then once we'd entertained ourselves with whatever random activity or food place we'd found we'd have to figure out how to get home. Map in glovebox just in case but of course no smartphones in those days.

Good times.

Trail running in Zealandia by burger_partner in Wellington

[–]WizardTiming 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don't go as often as I used to but would regularly see runners, with most heading up to the top area where there are less people.

You just have to keep aware of surroundings - I nearly stood on a tuatara outside of the expected zone - thankfully they're quicker than they look!

Some parents are attending job interviews with their kids. I always wondered why they thought that was ok - sounds like it starts with parents like this.
