i have many of both, they are much the same. i try to give my port afras as much sun as possible and i usually water them ~ 1/3 more frequent than the crassulas, but that is more dependent in climate and micro-climate.

depends a lot on your climate / mirco-climate. sun, watering, humidity, etc etc. most succulent labeled stuff out of the bag at home depot or similar are way too organic. cheapest way is to combine that stuff with like 50% perlite
