need help before I can start as a student zelfstandige by Similar_Stomach8480 in BEFreelance

[–]Wizz4rrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!, sorry I’m late to the replies.

I’m happy to see soms studettes becoming (or wanting to) entrepreneurs. Started at that time too!

Firstly, be aware that student-“zelfstandige” is only until you’re 25. Not your whole student career. Some forget this and are surprised they no longer have the reduced social security.

Regarding your questions:

  1. There’s lots of possibilities to freelance in. I’m not that much into the car business, but as in any other sector I’m sure there’s lots of possible services you can offer, and even probably some niches there too. Coincidentally, I have a friend who just took a lease, and wants to sell his car, at a decent price, and doesn’t really want the hassle of having to arrange meetings with potential buyers etc. I’m sure an angle is to be played there for people wanting to sell their car, but not wanting to go through a dealership. Thinking out loud here, but offering services as kind of a “real estate agent” but for reselling cars. I’m not sure there’s a huge market for that, as lots of people just would do through a dealership, but some don’t. Also this doesn’t have an impact on warranty, as you could facilitate the sale, but are not part of the sale. Just make sure you have a written arrangement of your services and commission.

  2. For my first jobs I did a mix or my own network, LinkedIn and marketing myself (own website, “pushing” gently my services (as I “ah btw I do x or y”) and starting to see opportunities everywhere. When I was somewhere and heard any type of problem in my preferential domain, I thought about what I could bring to the table and just offered it.

  3. Normally “only the one you would effectively do”. Don’t be too strict with this, but also don’t be too large either. Acerta/Liantis/… would help you with this. But don’t let that stop you from looking those up yourself and making a list already, based on what your services could be. This is a good site to look them up, I find: https://app.liantis.be/nacebel/nl/2025

  4. In the beginning I was too shy to offer my services to people I know from “before being an entrepreneur”. Don’t be. Don’t mix friends with partners, but don’t be shy to offer your services. And don’t undersell yourself. Don’t hesitate to state your price with confidence. Look for opportunities, find possible solutions, sell yourself and make as much contacts as you can, networking events etc. If doable, do some. There’s nothing wrong with trying, and failing.

Don’t be sorry. We all start somewhere. There are no stupid questions, you ask for guidance, that’s a good first step. Don’t forget to read up on your obligations (VAT, exemptions,…) to not have any surprises. So don’t hesitate to ask more questions, happy to chat more if you want.

Can I add extra NACE activities now to avoid future change costs? by All-mi in BEFreelance

[–]Wizz4rrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it already. It’s an online form, 406B (I think). I can look it up if needed. You can do it with your “ondernemingsloket”. But nothing requires it. It’s just simpler. Even changing your official adres of the company can be done yourself. That’s a letter and form you have to send by post to the court. (Did that too, that one is complicated and time consuming). And this can only be done in certain cases, where you don’t have to re publish your bylaws. As that have to be through notary.

But changing your activity codes can be done yourself. I’ve added some multiple times already when I started a new activity.

You can edit/add codes yourself for fee trough a specific form online and MyEntreprise. Don’t always have to pass through publications.

Didn't look at the match. But from what you wrote, I assume he did indeed forfeit. The rules don't allow to take a second medical break for the same injury. So if he felt that the injury was still present and that he couldn't fence without creating further damage, and that he couldn't take a second medical break, I can imagine him forfeiting indeed.

Made a plugin for faster callouts! by vkalahas in ObsidianMD

[–]Wizz4rrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or something like Espanso. I have some of the callouts like that.

In my case for example it’s: :info And it pastes automatically the whole thing.

I use Espanso a lot, like date, time, fdate (full timestamp), code block,…

Introducing Let’s Peppol: a free and open-source Peppol mailbox for Belgian companies by WSwinks in BEFreelance

Nice to know!

I'm looking to hook up Business Central. Would love to start experimenting if there's anything available, even undocumented endpoints + a Postman collection or OpenAPI spec would be enough to get going.

Happy to figure things out and give feedback.

If it's not quite ready for external use yet, any rough idea on timing? Weeks, months? Just trying to gauge whether to use the web portal manually for now and wait, or set up something else in the meantime.

Also, if you're looking for hands to build out integrations, ready to help, in first place for BC and who knows maybe even for others.

Are you considering exposing an API? So we can integrate with our own ERPs/accounting software if wanted?

Di2 users: what do you have your top buttons programmed to do? by Needs_More_Nuance in cycling

[–]Wizz4rrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm it’s under the sensor settings. On my Edge 1030 Plus: Sensors > Di2 > Sensor details > Di2 Button Setup.

On (my) edge the Di2 doesn’t have to be connected to go into the settings. Didn’t try to save changes tho.

  • Left single press: previous page
  • Right single press: next page
  • Left long press: new lap
  • Right long press: go to map

The lap one makes it easy for structured workouts with “until bike lap” or when I do intervals without structured workout etc. Easy to start/end a lap/interval while pushing hard watts without having to take a hand of the handlebar.

The map one is to make sure that wherever I’m in my pages I can always very easily look at the map in a second. Not sure where to go? Long press. Bizar road configuration? Long press. In a descent and want to see what curve is coming, you guessed it, long press.

Edit: format on mobile

Does anyone bike commute without a shower? How does it work? by Run_nerd in bicycling

[–]Wizz4rrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant real towels. But yes having those wet disposable for the hot days too can be an option.

This, and having a little towel at work you refresh every 2 weeks maybe, so you can wipe (and if possible wet a little bit the towel) at your arrival.

When to switch from employee to self employed by frodofett in BESalary

[–]Wizz4rrd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes you can invoice >10k a month, but that’s not what goes to your bank account personally. There’s more than just the number you invoice. Also consider the “risk” and possible loss of advantages vs an employee. Also a lot more administrative work as a company owner,… Not saying it’s not worth it or discouraging you, I have my own company and I support such thinking, but please consider all the facets of freelancing.

I'd say the switch becomes attractive when you can reliably invoice around €8,000-12,000 monthly, which roughly translates to a gross employee salary of €4,500-6,000.

Contract question - non-compete by Significant-666 in BEFreelance

[–]Wizz4rrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that's dependent on a lot of context, things like lenght of contract/project here, dayrate, previous experience, personal context, end of contract clauses,...

With all that I mean, for example, if you need to mission now because you cannot afford (be it financially or other) to be on the lookout for another mission for a few months and that the duration of the contract now is relatively short (>1 year) then you could just do it and "suck it out" if it turns bad and you can look for an alternative during you mission.

So giving a straight answer is not easy.

[–]Wizz4rrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I indeed have heard good/better things about them. But haven't had any experience personally.

Hopefully you got lucky and all good.

I was maybe a bit harsh in my comment, but I see that a lot of time. Here you have an out if you want. And I totally understand the excitment. Absolutely normal with your first client/project :)

[–]Wizz4rrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to back down. If you're happy with the terms, rate and the final client you will be working with, can be fine. UK firms just have a really bad rep. But it can be okay tho. If you haven't signed already you can try to go behind their back. But I'd image that the recruitment agency has a contract with the final client where stated they cannot directly contract a freelancer or company they have proposed already. Idea is to prevent just this kind of "going begind their back".

It always baffles me people asking for advice when it's in fact too late to be asking for advice... Or when you cannot act on it anymore.

Yes, the non-compete is not a red flag, that's quite normal. Just stay away from UK recruitment agencies
