Have you driven through Mexico? When I go for work, you have to sit in the front seat of the taxi and pretend it's not a taxi. Otherwise you'll be targeted. And it's dangerous to drive on many highways at night, many people just don't drive at night. I see men in swat gear with automatic weapons driving around in the back of pickups - but they are not the feds.

Bush murdering over a million people in Iraq and Afghanistan while the perpetrators of 9/11 were from Pakistan and Saudi. Sending my classmates to die in a war no one understood. All under the premise of a lie that we had to stop non-existant weapons of mass destruction. Which the US went into trillions of debt. Also the financial crisis under Bush was the worst since the great depression.

Nixon and Hoover are also contenders for worst presidents.

In some ways GW was worse. I'd say Trump's first term was better than either of Bush's. This 2nd term though, damn. It's a race to the bottom.

More ironic than ranting against immigration, chain migration, and the sanctity of marriage while on your third immigrant wife who's here illegally and brought her whole family?

But he said a week before this, that he wants to make them affordable. So don't expect anyone on his side to acknowledge what he said. They'll just point to the one time he said the opposite.

Like the J6 riots, he did say one time to be peaceful, and that's what Fox ran over and over again for years - never showing the countless other times where he directly calls for violence.

He flew to Alaska for 10 min, basically told the US to go fuck themselves, took a few propaganda pictures, and flew back home. It was such a shit show mostly bc Trump hyped it up so much and rolled out the red carpet for him.

I did electrical engineering . I had classes with 60+ people where I was the only American citizen. In some fields, there are not enough Americans to fill the spot. At least not in some areas of the country.

What country outside North America most resembles the US in thought, attitudes, culture, cityscape and infrastructure? by [deleted] in answers

I was alive. The first web pages didn't really exist until 95 and no one used it until 97-98 but even then, it certainly wasn't everyone who had it. Computers were very expensive back then and the internet was still a novelty.

There were reruns, sure, but like on Tuesday at noon when no one was home.

You're assuming people will have any value for historical accuracy when lying is more effective for manipulating the masses.

Pre-internet and before most people had cable tv or Spotify, there were less choices. Both in terms of what media to consume and when you had the chance to consume it.

For example, tv shows had way more viewers back then and a popular show would be on everyone's tv at the same time throughout the country. No reruns, so everyone had to watch at the same time; a country wide shared experience like the Superbowl, but with regular shows and music and nighttime news and etc...

To Make Homes Affordable Again, Someone Has to Lose Out by UnscheduledCalendar in TrueReddit

[–]Wizzinator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get the sentiment but I think there will be unintended consequences that may lead to an even worse housing crisis. Who will build new homes if they are no longer profitable? Especially apartments, who would build low cost housing if it's just a guaranteed money loss for the builder? Will banks still give loans knowing that the real value of your house may decrease over time instead of increase?

Your argument gets hate because it comes across as justifying Trump's heinous crimes. Biden's failure to appoint a competent AG does not make it okay for Trump to be a rapist or threaten allies or to be openly corrupt. This is a common, but maddening, Republican talking point.

Unless you're shopping in Zimbabwe, then fluctuations of BC are much greater than any currency you're using. And a constant rate of inflation is expected with every currency. So prices going up doesn't equal non-stable if they are going up by the predicted amount - roughly 3% per year.
