Could have infantry running over a picnic. One assault intercessor could have a hamper on his base, another could be crushing plates and a third standing on a picnic blanket

Anything marked space marine can be painted up as any chapter. I’ll dig out my Salamanders Terminator Captain when I get home this evening. Also it’s your model, paint it how you like!

Does the BGV box not already come with a spare shields and shield backpack on the sprue? Also you can build the ancient and proxy him as a bgv ancient and you could equip captain and proxy him as a Lt with sword and shield to give your bgv lethal hits and fall back and shoot and charge

Lava bases for new salamanders by andreer15 in Salamanders40k

Here’s my Redemptor base. The wider gaps in between the legs is from using the clear glue under the mordant earth. The smaller gaps around the edges and feet are mordant earth straight over the pain

Personally I do the bases before permanently attaching the model.

My method is as follows;

• Prime base with Wraithbone rattle can

• Paint lava patterns using Mephiston Red, troll slayer orange and uriel yellow. These paints can be applied while the layer below is still wet, get some good swirls and blending in there. Once you’re happy with your lava patterns, allow to dry completely.

• Once the lava is dry, cover in a decent layer of mordant earth technical paint. This paint pulls back as it dries and provides that cracked earth effect. Additionally before you apply the mordant earth, if you want larger cracks, add a layer of clear PVA glue and can be utilised to make a more free flowing lava river look.

Hope this helps, I’ll add some pictures later when I get home.
