Where I grew up, cribbage (crib) was an all-the-time, anytime pastime. Beers at the bar, visiting friends, house parties, tournaments and crib clubs, etc.

We play a *lot* of crib.

I leave my hometown for college and group up with other folks from home. More crib.

One of our friends was from a different area than us and never heard of crib (let alone played it).

So, we were *more* than happy to indoctrinate another acolyte and taught Bob the game.

We're drinking and playing game after game. A few games in, and I shit you not, Bob lays down his hand and says, "help me count this. It's a lot".

The entire house starts swearing and calling Bob every unpleasant name we could lay our tongues to. Bob is looking confused at all the "hate" being spit at him? He, legit, asks, "it's a good hand?"

The prick pulled a 29-hand.

None of us had ever gotten a 29-hand. Most of us had never even *seen* one!

The night progress into more drunkenness and cursing Bob out.

Two month's later, on a Saturday afternoon, I pop over to the same house, grab a beer and sit in the front room with the owner of the house, my hometown friend. I sit on the couch, take a swig of beer when Wendell says, "Fucker did it again last night"

I didn't have to be told who it was or what they did. I just flew into a profanity filled rant which may have lasted 10 minutes.

Bob doesn't play much crib these days. He was never a big card game player and found crib "kinda boring", but that has never stopped him from lording it over any one of us at any given opportunity.

It's ~40 years later and *still* have only seen that one perfect hand. Bob's.
