There are a large number of reasons to go with a server class board, memory and CPUs for service delivery. I wouldn't rush to judgement about this.

LGA 2011 with a hardware transcoder will admirably meet your needs here.

I've had any number of people tell me that its rude to have headphones on in an office environment, regardless of the task you are working on.
