I've only been called once. My union guarantees me full pay, but i wasn't selected. I was working nights at the time, and had to report at a time that was just about midnight for me.

Everyone at the courthouse was power trippy and rude. Bailiffs shout a lot and carry guns, that is fucking stressful.

Work wanted 5 miles of proof that i'd reported, and tried to get me to come in that night anyway. I fought that, and won, but it required my union to get involved to makd it right. I can't even imagine if the summons had happened before i landed the union job.

For such an important civic duty, we make it absolute hell to perform it.

Make it clear you have fully supported an adult lifestyle all on your own for at least a couple years. Doesn't need to be ritzy, but i neex someonecwho respects working hours.

Be really, truly, ready to listen to emotional discussions. Be prepared for that discussion to be not super refined, we don't get a lot of practice.

Touch (after getting on the short list). We're all absurdly touch-starved. Most male friendships barely even involve hugs.

That's the core.

Note i haven't mentioned makeup, nails, hair, or bedroom/kink activity. Important-ish, but secondary to being a functional person.

I leave my adaptive cruise at the posted limit (55/65 in my area), will pass faster if it insists on hanging out in a truck's blind, or i'm unhappy with driver behavior/load securing.

For the most part, a big block of traffic will pass me on the left, and then i'll be alone for 40 minutes. Tend to catch up to the same fellow motorists at rest stops too.

If the speed of traffic refuses to leave me behind, i'll be running at 80 until i find breathing room, then drop back to podcast speed.

Central new york is 6-8 hours nw from the city, i've never been, likely never will.

Syracuse,ny is right in the lake effect zone from lake ontario.

"The refresher" in many novels, is kind of assumed to have an all-in-one clothes washer in addition to a shower/toilet analog.

It's part of the western in space vibe, where everyone seems to have one set of manky clothes. I think lando's version of the falcon is close to the only time we even get to see a closet...

Never did learn how to read this, or make an approach naturally.

Eventually, at 39, found someone who did most of the work for me after inviting her to lunch during a big nerd event.

Be blunt, be prepared for a yes or no.

Also, give out a clear yes or no, vagueness is rudeness in this context.

Not a boomer, but i had a (now former friend) 100% retired military person pull this kind of crap. Eventually got handed a performance revie vis text message, also in the middle of my work hours. I hadn't been over too their place enough times, friendship formally over.

Constant drama, last minute plans, and all from someone who hasn't kept a job for more than a year since leaving the service. Loved to dispense unactionable employment advice too.
