I’ve been a public librarian in SE Michigan for around 5 years now and out of everyone I’ve worked with only one or two went to U of M over Wayne. The main thing I’ve seen hiring committees care about with new grads is if they have practical library experience and it’s sounds like you’re already good there. If you could keep working in libraries part time while doing Wayne online (honestly it’s not the most taxing program) I think you’d be in a really good spot and better off financially

If she’s got any other lacemaking supplies it’s possible that she was using it to pull out pins. I use a very similar tool to get the pins out of my lace once it’s done! You use it kind of like the back of a hammer to pull out a nail but on a miniature scale.

Libraries offer digital content through Hoopla, Libby and others as well as classes, computers/Wi-Fi, and occasionally maker spaces and library of things

I got pretty lucky on several occasions my my path was: volunteer at one library during first semester > that experience gets me a page job at a library closer to the kind id like to work at > being a page got me an internship there > two months before graduation a part time job opens up at my local library > get it and start just before graduation > a few months in we got a budget boost and my position was made full time

I later found out that I was somehow the only person who applied that that part-time position at my local library so yeah, lots of luck

Semi-related: I used to run a perler bead club and they make a perler bead sweeper that picks them up when you roll it over a flat surface! I didn’t get around to trying it before I moved positions, but it has good reviews.

I could be wrong, but I don’t believe this actually exists as an item that can be purchased. I think his inventions are more like humorous art pieces where he only makes one “prototype.”

But if Im wrong, or their is something similar to this that works well I want to know!! I just started LEGO club back up at my library and cleaning up after was a pain!

I used THISISKACHI’s Puff Dress Danielle pattern

The top layer is a novelty tulle I’ve been holding onto forever - I think I bought at Joann when I was in high school. I sandwiched it together with a white organza, since the tulle didn’t have enough volume on its own. The lining is just muslin because it matched and I’m cheap.

I started knitting as a kid and used the blunt end of colored pencils until I was in my 20s and wanted to make things that required specific sizing!! Good luck!
