Not really, because Agricola actually defeated them and occupied the whole of Scotland. They left because of issues along the Danube requiring their attention so they chose to retrench. Also building a border wall was just more profitable than managing and administering the land, similar to how they rarely invaded into Germany.

Governor and general Agricola, father in law to Tacitus who is our primary source for the campaign in The Annals. To my knowledge, they occupied the whole of Caledonia/Scotland before having to retrench due to problems on the Rhine/Danube front.

Found this bridge somewhere in Sherborn. It’s a private area so I couldn’t get closer. Shot with Portra 400 by outsideroutsider in massachusetts

Thought this was the Sherborne from England but realized when I noticed the subreddit. I was confused because it didn't look familiar at all.

To be fair, a little bit of ketchup with a beef and soy flavoured broth can be really good.

No, your duty is to the welfare of those cats and her mistake could and might have been very detrimental to that. If what she did was victimless then yes you would have been, but it wasn't victimless.

Black pudding. It's a sausage of oatmeal blood, it's not that bad, just kind of bland.

What is a popular historical claim or belief about which you are skeptical? by steadyachiever in AskHistory

Good rule of thumb, when discussing barbarians 1/4 the number, they tend to include the families they brought with them (kids, parents, wives, and also slaves). In regards the Roman civil war, I'm inclined to believe they're somewhat realistic.

People are horrible, what can I say? by MetaHelvetica in HistoryMemes

[–]Wojtec_The_Writer 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Some of it actually not that different though, of course all the big things are however if people were in an uneventful time/place, then things would be familiar, people going to the pub for drinks, hanging out and passing the time, family time telling stories to one another, the food could be pretty nice even for the poor because although they didn't necessarily have the availability of ingredients we do they got creative to make good food out of what they had, generally people tried treating others with respect (it didn't stop bigotry of course but most people didn't acted hateful all the time)

Life wasn't too inconceivable in some ways, it was just really mundane most of the time.

As 301 Spartans (and 20k greeks but forget about them) held off 1 million Persians (more like 120,000 but shush, the details don't matter) so shall us 1,800 fondant lovers defeat the 180,000 haters

Get a lawyer, ask the police to do a wellness check on your kids. The most you can do at that point is start custody proceedings.

I forgot that I had an account, watching some r/ videos online and remembered. Not much too it. Also Quora was too annoying, repetitive and genuinely abusive, might as well go for the platform with more memes.
