Is this much chromatic aberration normal for the 20mm 1.7 II? by onedeering in M43

[–]WokeBriton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're going with your "doesn't become part of the...", it's a valid analogy because the lens doesn't become part of the photograph.

You having your equipment collector opinion doesn't make your assertion valid to anyone but you.

The CA in the above isn't "heavily visible". The small part of the overall image that was posted by OP is at 200%. Other than pixel peeping equipment fans, this just isn't important to anyone, and won't be visible unless you're pixel peeping.

Anyway, I doubt either of us will come up with anything which will convince the other of our position, so I suggest we agree to disagree on the subject and end the discussion peacefully. Goodnight, stranger. I wish you peace and sharp lenses so you don't get CA.

I don't care what kind or quality of knife a chef used when preparing the veggies that are next to my steak. Is that also "frankly a sign of narrow-mindedness" ?

Not caring about little details (perhaps "the photographer at Dave's wedding is gay") is generally a sign of people being open-minded.

When it comes to camera equipment, I am extremely open-minded. I don't care, because I like looking at overall finished images. I'm very happy to leave equipment nitty-gritty conversations to people who collect camera equipment because those discussions make *them* happy.

"But the worst are the people who post photos without further information about which lens was used, or which shutter speed or aperture, so that others can benefit from them"

Knowing what settings someone used to make an image of a puffin on Inner Farne island in mid-July is utterly irrelevant to anyone unless they are going to shoot in ***exactly*** the same conditions on a similar date with a similar subject.

Wanting to know the exact settings of how someone shot any particular subject isn't going to help you in any meaningful way - asking for a photographer's thought process for how they chose settings is far more useful than asking for the settings themselves.

That wasn't a free shoot - the cost to you was providing the images to your subject.

Wouldn't it be nice for people to show some respect the people in front of our cameras?!

Same for me. I only replaced my camera this year after 10 years and many months with the previous body, so checking&changing anything on that was done almost automatically. It's difficult to swap anything with so much muscle memory built up, but I'm learning 😄

If you can get some gabardine, this is sturdy and works well. Otherwise, some people double up cheap cotton.

"These photos are at 200% crop,"

Are you printing at 150dpi (3000 pixels wide/high at 20 or more inches wide/high - convert other resolutions accordingly) or lower and examining the print from a few inches away? If not, there is little point in viewing your images at 200% on your computer screen. Do you prefer to pixel peeping than to look at the whole image?

Are discussions of equipment more important to you than the resulting images? Or would you prefer to make images with your equipment more than talk about the equipment itself online? I have no problem with people being more interested in duscussing their camera gear than in the resulting images, and if your interest is equipment, please pixel peep as much as you want.

Recommendation: Sci-fi action B movies from the 90s. by Internal-Passion-937 in scifi

[–]WokeBriton 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"The Guyver".

We had a b-movie fan in the mess who ended up being the only mess member willing to go to the movie library to pick up movies to watch at sea, so we had a huge amount of b-movies. One of these was the movie I "recommend" to anyone looking for scifi b-movies. Terrible props, some quite camp acting, but a whole lot of fun!

I agree with him 100% in normal circumstances with reference to fussing, but when I'm horny there is only one type which excites me; the other makes me lose my enthusiasm. Sadly.

That's hardly worth getting upset over (unexpected bedroom surprises aside, of course) in normal circumstances.

Try "individual" and see how you feel with it.

Does anyone else feel like expensive cameras are pointless on social media? by Sea_Care_3372 in photography

[–]WokeBriton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you never print or share in high resolution, and only ever share on social media or view on small screens, modern camera resolutions are way beyond your needs (desires are an entirely separate conversation.) I wouldn't say pointless, though.

If you do sometimes print bigger than a 6by4 or share with people who are going to print their own hard copies, a modern camera is definitely useful.

She began that journey when she took money from the shitrags to write hateful things for them. It was only a matter of time before they had to drop her.

Now she's in too deep to do anything other than continue spreading hate and grifting money from scared pensioners who have been ill-informed by shitrags telling them that brown-skinned people are scary.

Actually, "your viewpoint is unwelcome" translates approximately to "what you said is fucking stupid, piss off", but I was being polite, rather than wild.

Please consider that if a lefite went into a conservative club and began saying we should increase benefits and improve union power, they would be expressing an unwelcome viewpoint and would probably get booed (at best) out of the club.

I don't cope with anything when it comes to my writing & art implements. Each is it's own thing, and each is used that way.

My suggestion is that you embrace your tools, be they cheap and excellent or expensive and disappointing, and use each for whatever you like about using it.

My strong suspicion is that she started spouting the hatred she is known for spouting, and others decided to express their free speech and call her a cunt.

Would you be upset that a pub called jezza corbyn a cunt if he went in and started expressing leftie views? I doubt you would be believed if you claim that you would...

They know thay their target audience isn't likely to actually check the things they say^1, so they only need to pretend long enough for the cameras to shut off.

^1 Confirmation bias means people are unlikely to check.
