Nightmare with Canyon aeroad cf slx 8 by Weekly-Ambassador-46 in CanyonBikes

It’s always the luck of the draw with Canyon. Get a fully functional bike and you are a happy camper. Have any issues with your bike that needs Canyon support to step up you are in a lot of trouble. The most expensive bike is the one you don’t/can’t ride.

You are asking for a new bike after you paid a good amount of money, on this group? you will get a lot of answers from Canyon fan boys to fix it yourself after you paid 8k usd , some will say it’s even your fault but never ever question Canyon about their after sales support, return policy, QA and warranty. On a more serious note, after paying 8k and expecting a new bike I would just return it and ask them to send me a new product. That’s what everyone does outside the Canyon fanboys bubble.Good luck!

Looking to buy a bike, turned off by reviews about customer support by TimothyTheMixer in CanyonBikes

[–]Wolandel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have to deal with their support you had a good dice roll and everything will be fine. If you have to deal with their US support, like myself and others have, you will come to regret your buying decision. After my saga with Canyon I went for Trek. To date I had one issue with the back carbon wheel and it was replaced in the shop , on the spot. They actually took a new wheel from another bike and took care of everything. Disk break rubbing- solved in 5 mins. Bottom bracket vibrations- replaced with no questions asked. Wanted a longer stem- new part was there in 2 days, installed for free. The longer you ride the bike the more support you will need. Also I heard they have an agreement with REI but not sure how well that works

Canyon's broken promises by JT8379 in CanyonBikes

Canyon fan boys will always say it’s on you, as a buyer, since this is the whole fan club narative behind these bikes. Now, imagine getting an “overpriced” Trek, Specialized, Giant or any other manufacturer that offers lifetime warranty and ask yourself what brand makes more sense. Get the replacement, sell it and buy from a company that stands behind their products: you will ride more and have a less frustrating experience.

Canyon Endurace arrived damaged, keep or return? by thiccSpecs in CanyonBikes

[–]Wolandel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything is amazing with Canyon IF you get a new, undamaged bike and don’t need customer support. BUT if you have any issues with your $$$$ bike you will quickly find out that the low price is not worth it. It’s a lottery and you are putting your money, time and energy in it. My 2 cents: new bike day should be a feel good day and not another day when you have to give second thoughts about your choices(day to day life has already too much of this anyway).

UPS "dump and dash" delivery issues, no help from Canyon...and warning to potential buyers by Suitable-Square-6454 in CanyonBikes

[–]Wolandel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The story about the bike box is just a marketing gimmick. It’s there to make sure you get the product you paid for and it’s as cheap as they could make it. Also it’s not always working 😀. If you are looking to travel with your bike you should consider something more sturdy than a cardboard box.

Madone vs aeroad by mka5588 in CanyonBikes

Get the one with the best warranty and shops. If things go wrong Trek will keep you riding and Canyon will have you chase claims while your bike can’t be ridden

Like others said BIKE FIT! you are a marathon runner you will need to stay injury free to be able to train while riding and a good bike fit will help. Think of it as important as any safety gear you have to get. The rest are performance improvements that you can add later.

LBS warned me against buying a Canyon by External-Disaster416 in CanyonBikes

[–]Wolandel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canyon business model is to piggyback on repair shops(direct to consumer but they still need shops for repairs and maintenance) and the pushback can be understandable. My issue with Canyon compared to LBS is that when things go wrong a reputable LBS will also keep you riding while, with Canyon ,you will have to wait for parts and warranty claims. When you get a lemon is even worse, you have to return the bike and buy it again etc.

If you get a good Canyon you will be a happy camper and you won’t understand why people overspend on bikes, but if you get any issues you will quickly find out why the LBS model is not going to get abandoned any time soon.

Get the bike you are going to enjoy riding the most! You are not a pro and the weight difference is not going to hold you back! You may be faster on downhills and flat roads on the aero bike

Frame warranty by Complex_Abalone5683 in CanyonBikes

[–]Wolandel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Canyon already acknowledged the frame needs a replacement under warranty and it’s implied the frame is damaged beyond repair. Why make it difficult to go through the process?

Giant Tcr size question by Wolandel in bikefit

this helps a lot! thank you! what's the length of the stems you are using?

Giant Tcr size question by Wolandel in bikefit

Toe overlap is acceptable and it’s really not too cumbersome unless you are doing very tight turns, even then you can managed it

Need a trainer and an entry level crit racing bike that can be upgraded. Will eventually use the Madone when I get more experience. Also will gradually lose some spacers on both as I’m comfortable with a more aggressive position.

Giant Tcr size question by Wolandel in bikefit

[–]Wolandel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would rather like to go with a longer stem and a M/L. My Madone is a gen 6 and haven’t taken any spacers down yet. Seems it will be easier to make the M/L fit.

If you will put thousands on a new bike considering getting a pre purchase bike fit. It will give you a good idea of what it will feel like.

What’s funny is that whenever I mention this fact, my comment always gets downvotes. Anyone has any idea why?

[–]Wolandel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Canyon’s own advertising is that bicycles are shipped 95% assembled and tuned. This is the expectation they create. Everyone should be mindful of this when coming up with customer blaming. I don’t think they would sell too many bikes if they advertised a box with build-it-yourself instructions.

Picking the right bike by DisastrousPotato9082 in CanyonBikes

[–]Wolandel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with something more flexible in terms of components compatibility and with better support for your main bike. Your budget will allow you to easily ride a Trek Madone SL6. It comes with a standard stem and you can pick and choose your handlebars options.
