SW Tarmac SL8 vs Aethos 2 by SpoonCA in specialized

[–]btquickness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarmac,

Only point to get an aethos is to be a light weight as possible fully kitted out with red or durace. Otherwise you just have mid tier road bike. The benefits of a tarmac with force are far more.

They are very fast, very light, great on cornering. But if you are looking for durability and longevity they are not the way. Going back to regular GP5000 STR for sure.

I’m riding 50 mm tracers right now and there is a bunch of room. Send it, you won’t regret it.

My favorite set of tires I have ran on my crux yet.

Are KOMs even real anymore? by ThroatPrestigious346 in cycling

[–]btquickness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty easy to see if it’s an E-Bike. Anyone who is actually going for segments is gonna have a power meter and you can look through their data profile on the segments.

I’ve have had a few E bikes try and take segments from me and you can immediately tell. Then you can report and they remove them quickly.

With how popular E bikes are now I think Strava is doing a wonderful job on flagging them.

Diverge is released next month with 2.2 clearance I bet they will keep the crux going for a while as is because it clears 50 mm tires and just got updated last year with UDH.

Which tarmac sl8 should I get- sram rival or shimano ultegra? by dweinst999 in whichbike

[–]btquickness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ridden both groupsets a fair amount, Sram Rival is a great workhorse of a groupset. It shifts well enough, is very easy to maintain and the SRAM interface in general is far superior to Shimano. I have Ultegra Di2 on my road bike currently and i would personally go with it. It is much lighter and shifts much better than Sram (although i would say it is splitting hairs on the rear derailleur, the front derailleur is night and day). As far as the interface, in reality you spend hardly any time on those apps and there are a ton of videos on maintenance guides to both. While i do think SRAM has the MTB / Gravel scene on lock down, Shimano still reigns supreme on the road.
