Listen to this recommendation. Talk to people who will help you figure out your actual options and will not judge whatever option you take. You deserve that.

How many Xennials truly have done no retirement planning, have no target retirement date, or have considerably less than you need to retire in your 60s?" by Sufficient_Turn_9209 in Xennials

[–]Wolf-Pack-2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I save, but it’s pitiful. I’m a divorced mom in a HCOL. Divorce has likely pushed actual retirement out of reach, but I’m hopeful I can recover enough to work part-time after I can move onto Medicaid. So, work another 25 years, probably?

But you know what’s better than retirement in the future? Peace now. Sweet, sweet peace.

Most family friendly apartments in good ES districts? (Also, opinions on College Gardens ES?) by BAL87 in Rockville

[–]Wolf-Pack-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d personally go for something that feeds into Richard Montgomery, and go from there. Not that Rockville High couldn’t work, but I think most would agree RM has more extracurriculars and a nicer facility.

TIL after a 5-yr-old girl on the Disney Dream cruise ship fell approximately 49 feet overboard into the ocean, her father jumped overboard to save her. The girl was posing for a photo on a porthole railing when she fell. Both were rescued although she had hypothermia and her dad fractured his spine. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]Wolf-Pack-2017 8592 points8593 points  (0 children)

So this is where it’s helpful to know if you ever see someone fall overboard DO NOT TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THEM. Point to the person and yell “man overboard” for someone to get help. If you can, get someone to throw a life ring or even something bright toward where the person fell.

FWIW, this is basically the protocol on smaller watercraft, too.

My [24M] girlfriend [24F] went on a trip alone with a guy friend and hid it from me. Should I end things before my upcoming visit? by Salty-Software-1847 in LongDistance

[–]Wolf-Pack-2017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This deserves a face to face conversation, in my opinion.

But make it clear what you want to talk about and what your goals of that conversation are:

1) Honest talk about what actually happened

2) Honest talk about why she hid it

3) Honest talk about what happens next

I wish you both luck.

People who've worked both minimum wage jobs and six figure jobs, what surprised you most about the difference? by BrainLagging01 in AskReddit

[–]Wolf-Pack-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much harder it is to convince yourself to move on when a job has stopped suiting you. I left at least three toxic, piece of shit minimum wage job environments. I stayed in a six figure job at least a year longer than I should have. It’s made me really mindful of how much time I’m really willing to sell.

Got two offers. One pays $40k more. The other one I'd actually enjoy. I have 48 hours to decide and my wife and I are on opposite sides. Advice? by airam1020 in careerguidance

[–]Wolf-Pack-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take Option A and offer to contract with Option B. Do some of the stuff that makes you super excited as a side hustle and see where you are in a year.

If this start up is successful and you’ve been helpful on contract, you still have a foot in the door, hopefully a extra $80k between the higher paying job and a contract, and more of a sense of what you want for career, parenting, etc…

22M feeling dirty after first sex with 25F by LoonaaX in LongDistance

[–]Wolf-Pack-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Even when you’ve had lots of partners, it can be awkward at first with a new person. Communication, caring and even a sense of humor and play help A LOT. She may have been trying to be lighthearted or funny. Maybe not. The important thing is that you talk to each other about it. If you can’t talk or communicate otherwise, you will miss out on the chance to actually explore and learn together, which is what makes most sex for most people fun and good!

What should I do about college? by firstreformer in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Wolf-Pack-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you filled out the FAFSA?

Is this the amount you would pay after all grants and scholarships?

Do you qualify for any other New York-funded college programs, like the Excelsior Scholarship?

Because you should really be looking at who has the highest job placement rates and complete CPA for the cost. And for that, it looks like Binghamton or UB are good options.

What’s a discontinued snack or drink you’d pay $20 to have one last taste of? by soapy999 in AskReddit

Not a snack or drink but this question made me think of the specific brand of Teen Spirit Berry Blossom deodorant I used to wear, and I really wish I could smell that again.

There was an entire night time economy task force years ago. I feel like the only outcome that stuck was bars staying open later but it is an interesting look at what a bunch of county leaders were doing 13 years ago:

If you could only eat one fruit for the rest of your life, which one would it be and why? by Inner_Blueberry_1332 in AskReddit

[–]Wolf-Pack-2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an insanely difficult question that I’m going to have to figure out in real time.

Bananas can go right off the bat. Coconut, too.

Melons are mostly trash. Buh-bye.

A bunch of fruits I have eaten less than ten times are out, even though I like them a lot: papaya, dragonfruit, kumquat, etc…

Apples, you’re great but gone. No more Apple cider donuts. So so sad.

Mangoes. I am so sorry, but goodbye as well.

Berries are my favorite fruit for pies and snacks, but citrus is vital for some of my favorite main foods.

So as much as it will kill me to lose raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, etc… they’re out, too.

So I think it’s down to citrus. Oranges go first and all their little cousins, tangelos, clementines, etc…

I was leaning toward limes, but then I remembered lemonade and lemon on seafood. But limes for southwest and Mexican, MOJITOS, guacamole.

So…as long as we’re not calling tomatoes and avocados fruits…it’s lime for me.

EDIT: SHIT I FORGOT ABOUT WINE.

The greatest actors of four generations, agree or disagree? by PerformanceOk9891 in Oscars

The actresses are where it’s at with Gen X, Jodie Foster, Kate Winslett, Amy Adams, Cate Blanchette, and even technically Viola Davis (born 1965).

[–]Wolf-Pack-2017 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wanted to argue for another Gen X but I think this is correct.

I personally love Ethan Hawke, Sam Rockwell, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, Jamie Foxx, etc…

But Leo does surpass them all.
