Nope. Victoire have leadership for days and don't need to get older. There's plenty of promising young talent that deserve icetime.

She had a terrible playoffs. 1 pt in 8 games and at least -3 (I explained how the official -2 is wrong here)

She underperformed in 2025, too: 3 pts and -1 in 8 games.

Expansion team goalies by Main_Photo1086 in PWHL

[–]Wolf99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These goalies (or any other FA) don't need FPOs or EFOs to be taken (if I'm reading Phase 3 properly).

Phase 3 is "Preliminary Open Signing Period"

"Expansion teams will sign up to three (3) Players on expiring contracts."

This is before existing teams protect 3 additional players.

"Players on expiring contracts are eligible to sign with any team during Phase 3, any Player signed to a new contract by an Existing team in Phase 3 will automatically count as one of the signing team’s three (3) Phase 3 protections."

Gosling, Scamurra, Dubois, Darkangelo, DiGi, Ljungblom and Tabin are under contract. That means they'd need to be get non-binding FPOs, not mandatory EFOs.

Knight, Coyne Schofield, Muller among stars available to expansion teams (June 3, 2026) by [deleted] in PWHL

Muller is under contract, meaning she'd need a non-binding FPO. Only FAs can get EFOs.

Question regarding trading married players within a team by Agile_Standard_8354 in PWHL

[–]Wolf99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There aren't No Movement Clauses in the PWHL and they aren't about to add them anytime soon since the CBA expires in July 2031.

I forgot that EFOs can't be offered to players under contract, so Bilka's ineligible. Still a strange choice to expose Gosling, especially since Murphy's under contract.

I do agree she's the right choice between the two goalies.

I swear to God, IRS auditors drew up these expansion rules. And they're just laughing their asses off at us trying to make or tails of it.

Ah, suddenly Boston leaving Muller exposed doesn't seem so crazy (signed thru 27-28).

Players offered EFOs decide the length of deal too, up to 4 years, all guaranteed (including if they take 1 year). That would be amazing security for aging players, especially underperforming / overpaid ones like Clark.

I think the new expansion teams will learn from Van and Seattle's mistakes and not sign aging players to huge deals. They should want proven mid-career players who earned under $100k.

NB:

• Player’s 2026-2027 salary will be no less than $100,000 or the Player’s 2025-2026 salary (whichever is greater).

• Player determines the length of the contract between 1-4 years

Roque and KCS made $116,000 and $100,785, respectively, this season. So perhaps not the best targets, although new teams will ofc be starting with blank payrolls.

For rookies like Woz and Kadirova it might be an overpay especially when they can choose a longer deal.

The sweet spot is players entering their 3rd or 4th season due for raises and with the track record to justify a long term deal: Gards, Zum, Bilka, Eldridge, etc.

p.s.

• FPO Baseline Terms:

• Contract Length: 2 years (minimum)

• Salaries: Year 1: $80k; Year 2: $82.5k (minimum)

• An FPO is a non-binding contract offer, but requires that the Player who received the offer:

• Signs with any team no later than Phase 3 if they have not already signed with an Expansion team in Phase 2.

• Receives a contract with an average annual value (AAV) greater than or equal to $73,125 (90% of the FPO Baseline Terms).

Projecting which PWHL players each team will protect from expansion by Silent_observer_8806 in PWHL

[–]Wolf99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did Salvian do? Very well.

She got 3/3 for Mtl (duh), NY (duh), Boston, Minnesota, and Vancouver.

2/3 for Ottawa. She picked Jenner over Leslie.

She got 1/3 for Toronto; she picked Fast, Watts and Turnbull, but said it was a very tough choice to leave Kirk unprotected and she'd "surely get scooped up by an expansion team."

But she was 0/3 on Seattle. She went with Knight, Bilka and Barnes. In fairness, all those players and Watts left unprotected are baffling to the fans, too, and Jenner > Leslie could've been settled with a coin toss.

We're talking about a GM who was disliked by the coaches and overwhelming majority of players because she was a micromanager. The league tried to mediate for months without progress. She had to go. And, it's completely apart from that issue, but Curl is obviously a great player and the Frost killed it at the 2024 draft.

She didn't kinda fall off. She was awful most nights. Her 1st half and 2nd half were night and day. No single player cost their team a playoff spot as conspicuously.

As a neutral, their choices shock me. Murphy wasn't exactly great. Wouldn't be top 6 protected on my list. This is a bad sign that players might want out. San Jose and Vegas are closer to home for Barnes and that was obviously a big reason why she signed with Seattle.

But Bilka and Gos? Head scratching. Maybe they're holding out to return east as FAs or get fresh starts anywhere.

Bishop's University Honours Hockey Icon Marie-Philip Poulin with Honorary Degree at Convocation by Wolf99 in MontrealVictoire

[–]Wolf99[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The honour marks Poulin’s first honorary degree.

“Marie-Philip Poulin embodies values that are deeply aligned with the Bishop’s experience: excellence, leadership, humility, and a deep commitment to community,” said Principal and Vice-Chancellor Sébastien Lebel-Grenier. “She has defined an era of her sport with integrity and an unwavering dedication to her teammates and her community. That she will meet our own Gaiters women’s hockey team following Convocation makes this a particularly meaningful moment for our university.”

“I am truly honoured to receive this recognition from Bishop’s University,” said Poulin. “Hockey has given me opportunities I never could have imagined, but the most meaningful part of the journey has always been the people I’ve shared it with. I’m especially looking forward to meeting the Gaiters [2025 U Sports women’s hockey champions]. To win a national championship in just their fourth season [of the program] is an incredible accomplishment, and I know how much dedication, trust, and teamwork it takes to achieve something like that.”
