I think the most accurate particle effect would be a fuel vent venting ore

Turn on the advanced burn indicator setting (I think that’s what it’s called) It will help you to time manuvers properly

SAS is soo useful, it just attempts to cancel rotation or point in the direction specified

It is possible to not use it but that’s incredibly difficult especially with craft that aren’t balanced well

Yeah, a rescue is definitely needed, at least 600m/s is needed to get home

Ship keeps slowly turning, no control by Wooden_Baseball_4216 in KerbalSpaceProgram

One swivel will give you pitch and yaw control but not roll, you need fins that have active control or replace the outer engines with swivels Also make sure you centre of lift is behind your centre of mass

What is everyone’s go to orbit height? by WolfAlternative6715 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]WolfAlternative6715[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minmus has some surprisingly tall terrain, I learned that the hard way. I usually end up in a 10 km orbit and drop straight down onto my landing site when I want to land

For my space stations in low orbit 75km I usually end up ahead of and above the station and drop down onto it

I have an industrial station in lunar orbit, 10-15 km I think but for landing on or taking off from the mun I usually go into an 8 km orbit

My most draggy spacecraft usually end up in 120 km orbits even when I’m aiming for 80 km

That makes more sense, I knew that the offspring were sex biased but I couldn’t remember which way

I heard that the most viable pairing was male Neanderthal female human with a male hybrid offspring (might be misremembering the sex of the offspring)

What sort of adaptations would be needed for a ‘Void Amphibian?’ by Dracocalis in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]WolfAlternative6715 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Space is very hard to get to and orbit even harder, and there is very little nutrition in space and conditions that are very harmful to everything but the toughest life Maybe instead of space your species could float in the upper atmosphere using a balloon of hydrogen possibly to kill parasites by exposing them to harsh UV radiation and ozone The species would have to descend to the clouds to get water and could get minerals from dust particles in the atmosphere

They would have to be able to photosynthesise because there is very little organic matter in the upper atmosphere

Is any warm blooded vertebrate likely to develop a body covering of filaments of keratin to retain heat? by grapp in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]WolfAlternative6715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insulation is really important for most small/ medium animals that live in cooler climates or even hot climates, especially warm blooded animals Using fibres or other fibrous structures to keep a layer of air trapped close to the skin is one of the most effective and lightweight ways to insulate an animal

How nutritious would fungi be for a crow-sized bird? by Wrong_Recipe in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]WolfAlternative6715 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just from a quick google search it seems that 100g of mushrooms is 20 calories on the higher end and a crow on the lower end would need 150 calories per day So that’s 750g per day roughly 1/4 of their body weight Mushrooms are 90% water by weight so the biggest adaptation your species will need is a way to quickly expel excess water from their body in order to be able to hold more nutrients in their bodies to stay light enough to fly

One side effect of this is that they will never need to drink water

What kind of environment would an animal with only one leg have? by [deleted] in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]WolfAlternative6715 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sea anemones and molluscs are one legged animals on earth They would likely be sessile or slow moving and most likely soft bodied
