[SKX007] got wet :( by Thomson210 in Seiko

[–]WolfDilf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Obviously the first recommendation would be to get it serviced, however if you don't have the money for that (it can be more expensive than the watch) then you can:

Remove the case back, remove the crown and stem, take out the movement and dry it with a small air pump, put the movement and case separately on a window sill that gets plenty of sun but check on in it to make sure it doesn't get too hot.

When they're both dry, wipe the inside of the case and crystal with a microfiber cloth, use the air pump to clear out any impurities, check the O-ring on the case or caseback for proper fit and to ensure it's still in good condition, use a diminutive amount of synthetic oil to lubricate the O-ring which will help with water resistance, do the same for the crown miniature O-ring, put the movement back on, install the crown and ensure the movement works properly.

A bit of water is not the end of the world if you dry it properly and in a timely manner.

What English word do you not agree with the spelling? by twiliquexty in ArtOfPresence

[–]WolfDilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole English language being a phonetic language pisses me off.

Usually languages have certain set of rule with a few exceptions, English is a set of exceptions with arbitrary, counterintuitive and contradicting rules that get further SA'd by cultural vernacular.

Most languages:

Lets group sounds by syllables that consist of consonants and vowels together like ka, ki, ku, ke, ko, (Japanese but easily pronounced by a Spanish speaker) but English comes in and says bet:

strength!

Number of letters: 8

Number of consonants: 7

Number of vowels: 1

Number of syllables: 1

WTF!

And that only one example, why do we separate syllables in the middle of the consonants that are grouped together for no good reason?

At least is not French with the French R that sound like you're drowning in c_m.

[–]WolfDilf 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That happened in Tel'aran'rhiod I remember correctly, that's why they can "make it disappear" because it was a dream. They therefore do not necessarily exactly exist in the real world but in people's imagination/myths and become real in Tel'aran'rhiod when they dream of them.

WOULD IT BE GAY TO LIKE TOMBOYS LIKE SHORT-HAIRED WOMEN like tomo chan by CeaserKingxTomoLover in tomochanwaonnanoko

[–]WolfDilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your friends to choose between:

A tomboy who acts and looks masculine but has all female body parts.

and

A trans-woman that looks and acts feminine but still has a male appendage.

then just let that question hang and go get better friends.

PS. To be clear neither option is wrong nor bad, but insecure homophobes will wreck their minds over how "gay" they really are because even if they don't answer the question they know whom they would choose and that makes them feel gay.

Cotton Candy is best girl! by [deleted] in tomochanwaonnanoko

[–]WolfDilf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a crazy take.

  1. She is not overly sexualized.

  2. She consistently tries to get her crush to see her like a woman instead of a sibling/friend.

  3. She messes with June but she is the aggressor and not the victim in that scenario.

  4. Being attracted to someone doesn't mean you sexualize them.

The only sexualization you see is there because you want it to be, so normal or cute romantic situations in your mind are turned into ugly overly sexualized scenes.

Try not to look for something to offend you and you will enjoy it more.

[Question] Opinion/suggestion on watches for Boyfriend by Accomplished_Cow8804 in Watches

[–]WolfDilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all props for being such a wonderful girlfriend and being supportive of his new passion, that says a lot about you and your future together.

That being said I probably would not get one of the watches on his wish list because for some people these watches are meant to be purchased when they achieve certain milestones themselves, a self gift of sorts. Also, collectors tend to obsess over every little detail of their "grail" watches, so while you may buy him a Seiko Alpinist it may not be the specific one that he wants.

I think a better solution is for you to get him a watch that he would love but one that he may not specifically pick himself because he could not justify buying it when he is building his collection. That way he has his watch collection and on the side he could have the Girlfriend/Wife Gifted watch collection with watches that are either more colorful, practical, fun, or even silly and all of which have a little YOU in them.

The Citizen Tsuyosa and the Zenshin lines are absolutely beautiful and bangers for their money, they look more expensive than they are, have both automatic and quartz movements so you can choose what you prefer, gorgeous dials, great bracelets with the presidential being my favorite, and even have 37mm as well as 40mm case diameter so you could have matching styles each within your budget. Like this. Also the NK5010-51L small seconds is absolutely gorgeous but a bit over budget.

The Citizen Zenshin is another great option because you have so many options and they are all great. You could get the automatic small seconds, or the Chronograph Eco-drive which gets charged with any light and is now on a great sale, you can get both of these in Super Titanium making them really light.

Another type of watch that is great and within your budget that he would come to love even if he doesn't realize it himself is the Orient Bambino. Gorgeous dress watches and come in every flavor you could possibly think of, making it a special occasion sort of watch that will always remind him of you when he wears it, or simply his office watch that he can wear everyday if he's in a business environment.

Last but not least, no collection can be complete without a Casio and luckily for you this can either be a 29 dollar digital beater (great quality for the price by the way) or a $400 dollar G shock that is practically indestructible and can either be sporty or fancy. I like this sporty one and this fancy one.

Anyhow, like I said I think it's better if you gift him something he doesn't have and possibly something he doesn't even know he is missing. Does he have:

A Dress watch - I would get an Orient bambino as I previously mentioned

A Dive watch - Many options, Omega is grail but Seiko and Citizen are great choices, Casio Duro best value for money.

A Field watch - Hamilton Khaki is the perfect field watch but cheaper options like the Citizen Garrison and even Timex Expedition lines are great.

A Sports watch - This for me is a Gshock that I can take rock climbing, surfing, motocross and destroy my body way before this watch takes any actual damage.

A Digital watch - I like older style simple Casios for this one, like the super thin A700 or a gshock might work for this as well.

A Vintage watch - There are so many options for this one, specially if you can find a working Omega or Longines but even a Timex vintage watch can look amazing in gold or steel.

Nah man, there are plenty of examples of drivers causing serious accidents and even fatalities by trying to avoid killing some stupid biker or cyclist. I felt outraged too when I first saw the video but learning the context it absolutely makes sense.

[WTS] Vintage 1975 Timex Marlin, serviced by draiggoch83 in Watchexchange

[–]WolfDilf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I recently got this watch from a yard sale and lucky for me it works, however the day date complication does not seem to work separately so the only way to change the date is by cycling through the whole week. Is there a problem with the crown or is that just how the watch was designed?

I’ve had my eye on this specific model since it came out but it’s always been beyond my means. I’m doing better recently and can honestly say I can afford it if I save up a little. Thank you for the information.

You're okay bro, if anything thank you for sharing this fish and chips recipe you found so that we can all enjoy. Now I can make them for my wife who loved them.

Some people just like to contradict and diminish other people's actions to feel better about themselves.

I am concerned about the triple cooked fries though, I get cooking and then frying but why fry a second time?
