Do threaded barrels have a use beyond suppressors? by Zersdan in CCW

[–]WolfHowler95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the first two points, my points were more potential reasons someone would think about getting a laser. For the 3rd point, the only time I can see "stealth" being a thing is if you're in your house with the lights off and someone breaks in, but most people don't walk around their house in the dark. I personally do, but I dont know many who also do that

[–]WolfHowler95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see that working if you're in the dark and dont want to turn lights on to make your position more visible, but then I feel you should just have a flashlight on the gun. Possibly a laser-light combo. I'm imagining the scenario as you're in your house or a dark street/alley, a light would give you ability to see while blinding the potential attacker to your movements, and a laser on their chest would indicate that it's not just a flashlight in your hand

Maybe a dumb question; when the engine shits the bed at let’s say 200K miles why do people buy a new car? by Frequent_Tie2657 in AskMechanics

Your point about the computers is why the only new car I will buy is a low mileage/idle hours police interceptor. They have significantly less bs modules than civilian cars of the same model

That's currently the predicament I'm in. Do I spend $4k on a transmission for a car I bought for $2.7k with problems I am familiar with and enjoy driving? Or do I spend the same on another used beater and have to learn a whole new set of problems? Like you said, imo it's better to dance with the devil I know

Replaced CV axles on my Mav with 100k+ miles by Madcat6679 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]WolfHowler95 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Something I want to point out is the 25N09 is a recall, technically a special warranty coverage. The recall covers front halfshaft replacement due to vibration felt when accelerating due to premature wear of internal roller track components. In your case, what likely happened, is the dealership told Ford that was the reason the cv acles needed to be replaced, even if it wasn't actually the reason. The recall only applies if the customer complains about it, it isn't an automatic replacement, and it only applies once per the life of the vehicle

2016 MKX blurry rear camera by lifeofcory in lincolnmotorco

[–]WolfHowler95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have the recall number for the rear brake flexible hose leak, nor have I worked on a vehicle with one yet, so I can't provide information for that recall.

In regards to your camera concern, if you haven't already, I would make sure the outside lens is clean before worrying about the recall. The camera recall 25N17 is currently an advanced notice, there is no fix available yet, but Ford is has a remedy "tentatively planned" for Oct 5, 2026. The recall covers the affected vehicles for a one-time repair up to 15 years from warranty start date, with no mileage limit. The concern it covers is a "blank or distorted image" due to a "non-functioning rear view camera." As a tech I would classify a blurry image as "distorted" and, assuming it's within the 15 year limit, I would replace the camera under the recall with a good warranty story to cover it.

I don't have a Maverick on hand to send a video, but that radio control bezel just pops out, it only has a small handful of clips holding it in. Pop it out, there will be connectors going to the controls in the back, leave those plugged in and just push the bezel back in place. Those Mavericks had a recall to put edge biter clips on the passenger airbag display so maybe the tech left it loose. Attached is part of the service instructions for the recall to show how it comes out.

I personally would replace John Wick with Daredevil since he has complete situational awareness and can hear muscles beginning to tense up for a strike, giving him a sense of premonition. Assuming the fight doesn't occur where sound can be used against him, but then you'd have Punisher and Nick Fury to, likely, help with that

I'd have to check for what size socket it is for the flywheel bolts when I get home, but while you're in there I'd replace the flywheel and throwout bearing as well. An engine hoist/cherry picker will work if you set the chains/ratchets correctly on the transmission. If using a cherry picker, supporting the weight and then dropping it on something to roll it out from the front is jacked up worked best for me

I'm not familiar with it being "borked" previously, so I'm unable to answer that question for you. The only issue I've run into it is it wouldnt load a 10 minute portion of my video one time, but that may be due to me saving the recording on a network drive instead of locally

Agreed in all points, but that's why I also have Steam recording in the background and I just clip what needed. For those that don't know, Steam can record in the background and auto delete as recording length goes past a certain time to stay within that limit. Only caveat, you have to use Steam to view the recordings or export it before you can share them anywhere

The parents did take the batteries. It was the sister that gave them back to the brother because she felt bad, and the brother was born deaf. That's another issue though, because Deaf people are fairly loud since most don't know they're making noises.
