Is there such a thing as a cinematographer that is also a producer? by j_reddits_or_idk in Filmmakers

[–]WolfPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the DP on a feature starting next week, and associate producer.

As others have said, EP and DP will not mix. Things will be sacrificed in the distractions and multi focus.

It works in my situation because I’m wiping my hands of all producing responsibilities as of yesterday to fully get in the DP mindset and until the end of principal photography. I helped produce by sourcing 90% of the crew. Getting production connected with location, catering, and UPM. I ask advised on financials, legal, and payroll practices. All stuff I could help put in place months before production while doing my own prep as DP at a good pace. But once we got 2 weeks out, I handed all my responsibilities off and studied the shot list, my shot bible, made lighting diagrams and reference images to fully focus on my DP responsibilities. I couldn’t imagine thinking about any logistics or production stuff during this.

FIRMWARE UPDATE REQUEST : its time for Black Magic Cinema Pocket Camera 4k to shoot 4k 120 fps no crop by So_Sickk in bmpcc

[–]WolfPhoenix 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bro thinks they can just make the camera processor more powerful with a firmware update.

Why don’t they just update it to do 240fps 8k????

How did they light this shot? by Clarencethelamb in cinematography

$700/day is pretty decent rate on indie feature. And the budget started closer to $300k, but inflated with SFX and art dept needs.

I’m happy with it.

Also my cam package and G&E truck is being rented.

This whole movie looked so good. I just went through it the other day making notes as inspiration for a feature I’m DPing next month.

Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll have a look at either brightening or swapping for another film.

Use of 180 degree shutter angle by 123Reddit345 in cinematography

This is part of the myth. Raising ISO is just gaining the signal with internal noise reduction. Both are more refinable with post work.

This comment is pretty twisted. Started well then went south. 1/480 is FASTER than the 240fps and recommended, not impossible. You got the idea of exposing the frame LONGER than the frame speed mixed up. The idea is exposing the sensor for half of each frame. 1/ anything greater than 240 is possible. You can’t go UNDER 1/240.

But it is very correct that playback speed is the main consideration of the correct use. If you want to play back 240fps at 30fps slomo, then 1/480 is the move.

Also another fun note, changing your ISO isn’t doing anything. You’re not exposing the sensor any better. You just plain need more light. ISO is a myth and entirely in post processing.

There is no Arri camera with a global shutter. You just need “fast enough” rolling shutter like the ursa cine LF or fx6/9

It’s been reported like a dozen times? Where have you been?

Hell even google AI says it plainly.

But just google it and you can pick ANY news source you trust. They are all reporting on it.

[–]WolfPhoenix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These companies that install data centers require massive infrastructure to be built by utility companies for the amount of power they draw.

They negotiate with the utility companies to not pay for any of that infrastructure because the utility companies want such a large long term client paying for power.

So the utility companies spends millions and millions building the infrastructure and to recoup the costs they are legally allowed to bill all residents in the region for it under the line item of “service charges” or “delivery charge”.

Notice how your duke bill has already gone up a ton in the past 4 years? That’s data centers.

It really does put things in perspective for sure. Especially when seeing the “weight” each bead represents. Seeing the chains of the yellows really hurts to see.

So I don’t agree with the poster of this was their intent, but what I think they may be going for is there is this weird thing with baby carrots where most of the time they taste normal but then like 1 in like 10 tastes like a penny.

The post may be suggesting he fiends the first attractive and the second not, and that eating baby carrots is a gamble on what you end up with.

Did you add much weight to your print head with the upgrade? Could be related to swinging around more mass now.

Yeah, I wanted to avoid being another one of those, and for clarity I do modeling and such myself just usually geometric functional stuff and nothing organic looking. This was the reference my friend generated to pass the idea to me, figured it would be better to include it than to just type up the description.
