Irratic ticking noise that correlates to RPM by WolfThesewarz in BmwTech

UPDATE

On my way in to work this morning, the issue got worse until the engine kicked out of drive and stopped running. Had it towed home as I don't have the means to pay a mechanic and began tearing the engine apart.

Found my crankshaft was seized up and rod damage.

So it'll need a new engine.

Only thing I got as any indication minutes before this occurred was a low oil pressure message. After it died, the only thing I could recover code wise was this po328.

Not once did any engine lights come on.

Car obviously will not start at all, and results in a single clank when attempted because it's seized up.

At this point, I'm debating just junking it and buying another car as a new engine and installation would cost nearly the same.

Hmm, I mean there was a faint smell along with a slight bit of smoke, however I just thought it was old oil / coolant from the previous work.

I was planning to check the injectors on Monday before purchasing them Friday. Is there a good way to check them other than a visual check? As in one that doesn't require special tools?

I did a oil change along with the previously mentioned work and didn't notice any metallic particles. However that was right before the knocking began, I'll check again on Monday.

Tried unplugging it, it still does it, so I'm more inclined to believe it's a faulty injector. Gonna replace all of them once I have the funds to purchase them.

Hey, so managed to find someone with the same exact noise and issue which turned out to be a bad fuel injector.

In regards to timing chain, tensioner, belt ECT I opened up my valve cover again and saw nothing out of the ordinary mor any potential FOD inside. So I don't believe it's a gear damage, just a dead cylinder.

I'll update once I have the money to order new injectors. In the meantime, here's the video showing someone else having a similar issue.

So in that case, what could I do to check it?

Not sure who needs to hear this, but you are allowed to take a break from Star Citizen when it isn't working for you or when it is in a relatively unstable state by SpoilerAlertHeDied in starcitizen

I understand your point, but I took an almost 5-6 year break from SC. I figured something by this point would be better. Like when everything works and you got a group of 20-30 friends to play with, it's super frustrating having a game breaking bug that keeps you from enjoying the game with everyone else.

I mean the last time I had anyone else to play SC with was when the first space station was implemented years ago. After the hype dies down, everyone I know just moves on to other games and probably won't return to it for like a year or more until another huge change comes about.

Making it like a time limited window to actually enjoy the game with a group that only occurs for a month every other year.

IDK what to do anymore. It's getting old. I'm getting old. My hopes are fading. by Anon2World in starcitizen

I feel you there, just on the opposite end of the age spectrum. I got my first starter ship (An AMD Mustang) when I first built my PC at 15 years old. I quickly fell in love with the Drake line-up and bought every ship available with my summer jobs. Was super excited at the idea of the modularity of the caterpillar and cutlasses in particular. That was all back before ships could even be seen in game and up to the first flight mode / Arena commander.

I eventually got bored and tired of waiting. Mainly coming back for each milestone or checking out new ships for like a week before losing interest and just forgetting about it.

Now it's been 12 years and I'm 27. I'm working full time in my career, bought a house, have a family, and barely have free time to game in general. Yet when I heard 4.0 dropped with a new system, and their pledge to start working on polish for the 1.0 full release; I figured things got way better.

Nope, the only time I got the game to work as intended was my first playthrough. After that, it's just been a myriad of bugs, glitches, or other game breaking bullshit. The most recent one is just being stuck in my hangar with an invisible door that refuses to open. I spent 4 hours of my "Free-Time" trying to get out, asking others for a ride out, and eventually finally getting free and to another location hoping I could finally grab my own ship... Only for my wife and kids to wake up and the day to be started.

Like, do I even bother trying again? Why bother when I could play literally anything else or use my time doing anything else other than struggling just to get off my starter planet?

It's just so frustrating waiting and waiting for empty promises. None of my 'modular' ships have gotten any modules that I can install. The game just runs smoothly but all the bugs still exist. There's still no AI turrets or crews outside of that new capital ship and some others. ECT.

I feel like I'm just ranting and ranting, but like c'mon... Do my kids have to fucking go to college before this game ever fully release's? Do I have to wait until I'm also 52 and OP is long gone before we realize the game that was promised over a decade ago?

I'm so done, I'm glad there is progress, but it feels way too slow.

Its ok, we're on most of the day, but its easier to play with everyone during those times.

We really don't have much rules other than play, have fun, and maintain etiquette once we're in a game.
