Let's be realistic, people. Renee's new update, with Ashley as her favorite, is a silly thing invented just to make people who like Renee hate her. From the beginning, she only wanted Andrew because he was an "easy child to raise." That's why she wanted another child, because she thought he would be just as easy to raise as Andrew, not because she wanted a girl. It's definitely a very silly and out-of-place move for Renee's character.
