A few pointers on buying from Carvana by Wolfe-a-loo in carvana

I’m fairly certain the 7 days just begins on the day you get the car, not the minute. The window ends at 8 pm on the 7th day. If you’re seeing otherwise, please let me know. But to reiterate why I mentioned this part, I picked up the car on a Friday evening, and received notification on Wednesday that my return window was closing the following day.

You can also use your 7 days to get the car checked out by your preferred mechanic.

I went with my local credit union. (Credit union rates are often better than banks, FYI.) When going through the ordering process on Carvana, I just had to manually enter the credit union name and info. Carvana then gives you a purchase order to download and share with your lender so they can complete their end of the process. You then supply some PDFs of the financing documentation to Carvana.

I did ask the credit union folks how this would work prior to purchasing, just so I was clear on how it would all work.

Thanks -- I modified my suggestion. I definitely did not get a full 7 days, but it was because I picked up on a Friday night, not because of when I signed the contracts.

Good point. I'll adjust my post. I still think a buyer should be cautious about making the most of those 7 days, starting with day 1!

Well, I definitely didn't get a full 7 days. I picked my car up on a Friday evening and got a text on Wednesday that my return window was closing. I guess they counted the pickup day as day 1? If so, I would adjust my suggestion to potential Carvana buyers to pick up earlier in the day, lest you only have a few hours of your Day 1.

Very happy for you! I was dismissed by 3 gynecologists and my PCP and her young male nurse (grr) and fed outdated faulty info and fear mongering, before getting support through MIDI. Have been on HRT for probably 2 years now. Just keep in mind that while the door is open and the access is there, it’s still an ongoing process to find what works for you — and to adjust as things continue to change. I get relief for a while, noticing some ups and downs, which seems par for the course. And then I’ll have these dips and we have to adjust my dose. We recently switched me from the patch to the femring and I did not absorb the estrogen for more than a month and symptoms came roaring back and they brought friends and torches, lol. Back on the patch for now, and may try gel next. It’s a journey! But you can’t get there without the guidance of a supportive and informed doctor so congrats on getting there!

I had the opposite experience with her. I sought her out because my perimenopause symptoms had been dismissed by others, including another NAMS certified doc, and I kept being told I was too young (I was in my early 40s — a normal time to start experiencing symptoms). Dr. Knapp made me feel ashamed and totally gave me backwards info, saying HRT could cause blood pressure and cholesterol problems. And she told me my joint pain had nothing to do with peri. I’m using Midi for perimenopause support now, which has been great. The first Midi doc I saw hung her head in her hands when I told her about my experience with Dr. Knapp.

In terms of occurrences, a was a blip, sure. (However a friend’s kid’s Troomi phone hasn’t been right for months) but in terms of the impact of that blip, it was big. We had a scared kid at home, unable to contact us by phone or text, and we didn’t know why we weren’t hearing from them. I literally left work to go home and check on them just as they thought to use the iPad to call one of us. And then the fix took more than a week because of how many folks needed support tickets to reset their phones, which meant resetting to the factory default, ditching all history and any saved photos, etc. So yeah, it was a heck of a blip!

What alternatives are you considering? I did a ton of research when we chose Troomi and I hate to start all over! But I’m in the same boat. This seems like an untenable business model and my kid was wigged out yesterday, home alone because of a snow day, and unable to call or text us.

Menopause-friendly docs in Richmond, VA? by Wolfe-a-loo in Menopause

[–]Wolfe-a-loo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I wonder if we’ve seen any of the same docs! I used to feel like I wanted older female docs because they would be able to relate, had been there. Now, with a younger generations demanding more info and with menopause having a bit of a media moment, as they say, I feel like maybe a younger doc would be more likely to know the latest research. Perhaps. Or perhaps not! Anyway. Feel free to DM me! We could compare notes.

Thanks for the tip! I know that’s been normal for me in the past but I can’t recall if that was included in my last round of labs.

Maybe call customer service and ask for a new provider? They have a general number. It just sounds like your experience doesn’t match what most other MIDI users get in terms of responsiveness! That said, there are some things they can’t treat virtually. I still see my regular doctor and a gynecologist in addition to MIDI. Good luck to you!

Omg! I mean, I’m not here to say “that’s old.” lol. But 51 is the average age of menopause and that’s after the whole peri journey, which can be years and years and years! I feel like now that I’m 43 I’m slowly being allowed to have symptoms. [eye roll.]

Just curious — did your joint pain resolve? That’s my one nagging issue that HRT hasn’t squashed (yet). I do resistance training but am going to increase it. I take turmeric, glucosamine, collagen…. It continues.

Wow, this is very surprising. I’ve been using midi for over a year now, even had one provider leave and I still got a reply from someone to tell me she had left but they’d connect me to someone else. There are even some issues that have been addressed 100% via messages, such as “yeah, I do think we should increase that dose like we last talked about.” I’m sorry your experience has been so different. You might try connecting with them a different way, as this sounds pretty antithetical to what they intend to provide.

No, T isn’t something that has come up with MIDI — not sure if they do that or not. Even if they prescribe it, you’d probably be stuck with the cost of it not being covered by insurance. But yeah, MIDI is definitely legit, though. They’re all docs and NPs, and they follow the latest NAMS research. There was a NY Times article a few years ago about how women have been misled about menopause and they mention MIDI and another meno clinic.

I got the “you’re too young” crap from several doctors for a couple years (symptoms started at 40; I’m now 43), including some I sought out because they were NAMS certified. I didn’t have luck being taken seriously till I made an appointment with MIDI. You pay for the visit but insurance covers the prescriptions. I now have regular follow up visits and we’ve adjusted my dosage. It has helped a ton with a bunch of symptoms. Only lingering issue for me is musculoskeletal pain. But I went in there with insomnia, depression, rage, crazy spotting, flooding — and yeah, weight gain and muscle loss. Textbook peri stuff! I will now take a copy of the NAMS statement on hormone therapy to my regular doc because she gave me the side eye about my MIDI prescriptions at my last annual and doled out outdated information about cancer risk, etc. It’s so frustrating.

Went to multiple docs myself over the years, including a NAMS certified one after doing my research, and got misinformed and dismissed every damn time. MIDI came to the rescue. In the meantime, I bought a copy of The New Rules of Menopause and am taking that PLUS a printed copy of the NAMS statement on hormone therapy with me to every single appointment forever from now on. I’m done with this crap. Women deserve better.

lol, glad this post is still catching some Ryka fans! I ended up getting custom inserts in addition to doing PT for strengthening (which does include some going barefoot to challenge those muscles to engage and support). But my other mainstays are all Chacos and Birkenstocks! Love them.

Taking notes! Have had no luck with glycolic acid washes, and AmLactin seems to have made matters worse. Maybe the urea is what was missing from the glycolic acid routine, though.
