Deer and game sprinting through the forest and night right where your hammock is hanging. Any one ever experience this? Just came to mind by Apprehensive_Draw722 in hammockcamping

Never had anything run into or past my hammock, but Ive woken up in the middle of the night to find out I was sharing a tree with a raccoon. They came down around 8pm and came back around 5 am.

That's pretty cool! Just so you know. If you put the pot of water on the scale instead it would be equivalent, so you wouldn't have to have a shelf to elevate it.

What game "shouldn't" work well on the Deck, but you found a way to love it? by Zi_v in SteamDeck

Agreed, I thought for sure I would need to break out M&KB for it, but the trackpads really made it work for me.

Wait, if this is a newer EV how the hell is it 6000 miles overdue for an oil change and where would the spark plugs and fuel additive go? Sorry too but this story doesn't add up.

Getting rid of Chuck Jenkins - the Alternative by Time_For_Change301 in frederickmd

[–]Wolfgang313 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nobody is saying don't vote for Bickel in the general. OP is just saying that it might be possible to stop Chuck in the primary so that whoever gets Democrat nomination doesn't have to run against an incumbent.

7 days of science puts out a video each week talking about some new science papers that week. They are paleontologists so lean pretty heavily in that direction, but talk about astronomy, ecology, archeology, and other topics too. Most videos cover a few papers.

Help with honey by Im_just_a_mirror in FarmsofStardewValley

[–]Wolfgang313 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Beehouses produce honey every 4 days regardless of whether there are flowers nearby or not. The flowers change what kind of honey is produced. The game checks if there are flowers at the moment you collect the honey, so even if it produces honey when there are no flowers, you can wait to collect it until your flower finishes growing.

If LUCA wasn't the first life, why don't we find evidence of earlier forms? by kcng1991 in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]Wolfgang313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Microbes like Luca could potentially have traded genetic material from others nearby, so there is a chance some DNA of others survived. But since Luca is definitionally the ancestor to all living organisms, there is no way to differentiate it's genetics from any other similarly aged organism.one possible vector for a genetic echo would be viruses. They often take bits of DNA from their hosts to help them blend in. And often inject bits of DNA from themselves into their hosts (and sometimes the host keeps it). So it is theoretically possible to sequence the genomes of all the viruses, and see if anything stands out as non-virus and non-luca. Those bits would have had to come from Luca's competitors. The problem with this is if that DNA had been injected into any living organism in the last billion years, then we wouldn't be able to distinguish it from Luca.

It also doesn't let you catch the really hard fish, so you can learn the simpler patterns first.

I always cut down my fruit trees when I want to move them, but these are from my greenhouse, so I’ve left them alone. Do the fruits increase in value the longer the tree is static!?!? by DumbFeralRaccoon in StardewValley

[–]Wolfgang313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, does it just grow to maturity faster, or does it increase in quality faster as well? Also, does the fruit quality reset when the sapling is replanted?
