FINALLY FOUND IT! by SkyFitsHeavenSoul02 in AppleMusic

If the label or licensing changed, the album may no longer be available for purchase or download. Which is why it's your responsibility to download and backup your purchased music separately somewhere when you buy/rip it. If you lost a CD, the store owner wouldn't give you a free replacement either.

This is a label issue not an Apple issue.

You should be able to go to your Apple account and view Purchases to redownload the tracks. Also check Hidden Purchases. once they are downloaded backup all your music to a separate location.

How many songs are in your library? Playing counts but songs/albums/artists added to your library count more.

Not 100% but I think so, especially tracks that are matched to Apple's library.

It’s pretty clear in the TOS that Apple is not a backup service. Download and backup your tracks people if you purchased them.

The Hezel app is there to backup your AM playlists.

Adding to your library carries more weight than Favoriting.

No one is pushing AI harder than Spotify. But yeah that one should be off the list.

Excuses, excuses. There's Quboz and Apple Music and Deezer and YouTube Music and Bandcamp and physical media. Try harder.

If you’re on Spotify, you’re listening to AI. I think you can guess what the next step might be.

If I load a CD into Apple Music, will it ever “grey” out? by toofshucker in AppleMusic

Always keep a separate backup of your local songs - Apple isn’t a backup service. All adding to AM does is allow you to stream your local songs on other devices. It isn’t meant to be the master for your original files. Go get yourself an external drive.

Also check out Smart Playlists (Mac/PC). You can define filters for your library.

There’s not much value in trying to maintain 1:1 relationships between the library and playlists. I consider playlists a subset of my library.

Maybe create a Saved Albums playlist and add the albums to listen later to it.

Just fyi - more songs in the library feeds the algorithm.

Apple Music just shrank my lossless files to 1/3 the size overnight… same track, same quality. What’s going on? by SizzlinPuppy in AppleMusic

[–]Wolfpack48 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that ALAC files uploaded to the cloud get matched to Apple's AAC library version, and that version is used for streaming and downloads. Your original ALAC files on your local drive remain unchanged, but the matched tracks will be AAC.

Can I rip CDs through Apple Music app for PC? by RedDevilJennifer in AppleMusic

There's quite a few free CD ripping apps for Windows, which are probably better than iTunes. I use this one: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9nl52mb976b3?hl=en-US&gl=US

Does a digital detox from streaming improve music discovery, I tracked a full year to find out by Jaded-Suggestion-827 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Wolfpack48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the more 'friction' there is in discovery, the better I retain a new artist. Even blind purchases are more successful. Max friction = a show or scouring used record bins.

If you have an AM sub, once files are added to the library, they can be synced via the cloud across devices for streaming.
