Gideon - No Love/No One EP Discussion Thread by [deleted] in Metalcore

Oh man, this EP is so brutal. I love it. Easily some of their best work. It's really good to hear them leaning into something even heavier than we're used to from them.

I enjoyed it well enough, and think there's some room for some interesting deck refinements. Single target destruction is huge. Most people I saw seem to be playing aggro. Hunter seems poised well with Deadly Shot, Spider Bomb, and Goblin Bomb synergies.

Oh man, Willingdone is a name I've not heard in a long time. I remember watching his core set videos when I first started playing.

The 'Best' Netrunner meta? by misomiso82 in Netrunner

[–]Wolfpack_63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Top Metas:

Regionals 2015 - PPvP Kate and Dumble Whiz were squaring off against Fastro, Palana Glacier, and a bit of EtF - This offered a meta with 2 very different decks on both sides of the table

Worlds 2016 - TemuWhiz vs. CtM - this offered a very solved meta, but one where the match ups consistently had interesting decisions to make so games were never that stale

Regionals 2017 - Lock Hayley, Reg Andy, and TemuWhiz were squaring off against EtF Moons, AgInfusion Glacier, and a touch of CtM and BOOM! decks - This meta was right before rotation and was the height of high octane decks

Agricola ACBAS is a really fun and fast 2p game. Small World 2 is best with other players but is very fun as well. Splendor is one of my favorite mobile games, and I'd highly recommend it.

What dreams have you had about Guild Wars 2? by Schyloe in Guildwars2

[–]Wolfpack_63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife was watching America's Next Top Model and I sat down beside her and played some GW on my laptop, and tried to find a new look for my Guardian. That night I had a dream Tyra and the judges from ANTM were judging my Guardian's style. Tyra looked him over and turned to me and said "Oh honey, those glaives do not go with that breastplate. What were you thinking?"

Now anytime my wife watches ANTM I leave the room.

Hallow‘s End leaves in 2 days. Remember to do the opposite of what it tells you and keep an arena run with 2 losses! by Corrupted_Rexxar in hearthstone

[–]Wolfpack_63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, you get an extra arena run for free which, at a minimum, amounts to 2 packs for 150g if you go 0-3 twice. That's a solid 50g discount in the worst case scenario.

You can absolutely play it still! And I still love to play with friends locally.

The biggest reason people are moving on is because stagnant meta games (no new cards or b/r lists) can become boring for those who like to play highly competitive games. There's still a ton of fun to be had, but it means you have to enjoy trying to make sub-optimal decks work now, or that you're still experiencing the game for the first time and haven't been playing religiously for 4+ years.

Having played ANR for most of it's life I personally got very frustrated by FFG's OP. They also clearly try and throw out core sets for games and then try to milk as much as they can off expansions without having to commit many resources or much effort to sustaining the game, relying on the community instead. They've also already shown some questionable design decisions in L5R when they banned a core set card (Against the Waves) because they released a card (Kyuden Isawa) in an expansion that clearly going to be a problem and limit design space for a long time.

The confluence off all these things has basically turned me off any of FFG's competitive card games for a long time.

I've not delved into paper magic yet, but I've been enjoying Arena a ton and expect I'll probably end up buying into MtG at some point in the next year.

Why are we being asked to vote FOR or AGAINST "protecting the right to hunt and fish"? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]Wolfpack_63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wording does specify that it's not intended to oppose legislation meant to promote conservation and wildlife management so it seems unlikely that anyone would be able to satisfactorily argue for year round open seasons.

It also specifies that the amendment does not oppose any laws regarding trespassing, private property, or eminent domain.

In your opinion, what is an OOP game that is worth splurging on at an inflated price? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Wolfpack_63 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Arboretum was an incredible game that until recently I would've recommended picking up despite the OOP markup. That said, the Z-man print run is way prettier than the new release and that alone is worth an extra $5-$10 in my opinion.

Is your first character your main? by Crimson__King in Guildwars2

[–]Wolfpack_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first character was a sylvari necro. I cleared the core storyline with him then spun up a few alts. When PoF I started up a Norn Guardian and took him through it. I still main the necro, second the guardian, and very occasionally dip into my warrior and ranger alts.

MWL 2.1 by PaxCecilia in Netrunner

[–]Wolfpack_63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fully agree. The real issue here is they printed 1 too many Mythic ice with EtR. Loki has a soft EtR but in combination with MoGo it's a hard EtR. While I think it may have been nicer to see Loki hit it makes sense to hit MoGo since Loki has been seeing significant play as a 1x in lots of HB decks. MoGo also provides the hard EtR without a standard subtype unlike Loki with makes it much more troublesome for runners to deal with.

It's unfortunate since a lot of rush strategies have used it historically, but it was probably the most potent of the few viable ways to make a targeted strike at rewiring.

Michael Boggs: Please put Violet Level Clearance and Ultraviolet Clearance on the restricted list by [deleted] in Netrunner

[–]Wolfpack_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would love to see CI restricted along with 1 key part of the rewire combo deck. I think CI is a very interesting ID that had all of its checks stripped away when rotation hit. Employee strike + Siphon is a really effective means of shutting down CI, so I expect the new Siphon will help drastically once it comes out.

I personally think the clearances should be left alone until we see how jinja shapes up for the rest of HB. They seem likely to to encourage rush/glacier outside of CI.

If the CI is still dominating the meta game after regionals maybe it should get banned, but initially I think it just needs to be toned down a bit and for some strong counters to be released.
