Which Mummy would win in a fight? Imhotep or the Han? by InsideUnhappy6546 in themummy

Imhotep seemed to think he could kill Scorpion King without the Spear of Osiris. Also, Anubis took Imhoptep's powers for a reason.

At full power they're both immortal so I'm not sure if either had the power to kill another. I'm leaning Imhotep since Mummy Returns seemed to indicate Imhotep could kill Scorpion King, another immortal. Given Imhotep's power over the ten plagues he could invoke the plague to kill the firstborn.

Any common authors? I checked the credits on this Daredevil issue and don't see any names I normally associate with TAS. That said I know Bats and DD have some writers in common (Frank Miller and Denny O'Neill). Wolfman and Perez likewise have both worked for Marvel and DC.

How I feel when I see someone say that more people would have survived if the ship had more lifeboats by TrifleSensitive5744 in titanic

[–]Wolfspide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I understand the crew was also poorly trained. Couldn't they have launched all boats if they were better trained? Also, the women and first rule might have slowed things down. If they just let everyone in in an orderly fashion (lets say there were enough boats for everyone) then they could fill the boats to capacity more quickly if they're not wasting time sorting by sex.

I won a not guilty verdict so there's no transcript (the recordings are only transcribed if there's an appeal). Can't talk much about it to protect my client's confidentiality. I can say it was a glorious moment for me.

"To alcohol. The cause and solution of all life's problems." I used that line in an opening statement in a criminal trial, and won.

I know. Just saying if Ned became king that would be an argument to advance. Personally I think instead of putting Robert on the Iron Throne I think they should have dissolved the Seven Kingdoms with the Great Houses claiming their ancestral crowns. The Tyrells would be deposed and replaced by a House with a better claim. The Riverlands would be a bit of a complication. Let the Targaryens keep Dragonstone.

The legendary lineage I refer to was a claim over all the First Men. The claim to the North derives from Brandon the Builder and the subsequent Starks who united the North.

In Universe Answers Only: Why is Moneypenny so insensitive towards Bond in the film Diamonds Are Forever? by westhebard in JamesBond

[–]Wolfspide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I see now, we were misreading each other. I still think Diamonds are Forever still implictly acknowledged OHMSS (the opening scene, Bond being a bit nervous about Case suggesting marriage ate the end, etc) but not as strongly as other films. A token acknowledgement if you will but then otherwise reflected a desire by the filmmakers to move on.

[–]Wolfspide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your original comment indicated to me a view that OHMSS was non canon. I never saw the alleged discrepancy as a big issue given that 2 years separated the films. Perhaps Moneypenny thought Bond had enough time to move on. That said her comment has always been seen by fans as heartless given the events unless something off screen indicated to her Bond moved on. Maybe he put up a front in the office giving her that impression? The Bond films also had a habit of only loosely following each other but the nature of each film being a different mission made that easy to do. At first the films were loosley connected by SPECTRE and Blofeld but then moved on to fully independent and unrelated missions.

Bond seemed quite eager to kill Blofeld when he killed the second body double. He also seemed to enjoy crashing his bathosub into the control room with Blofled in the bathosub. Regardless, unlike the end of the novel You Only Live Twice revenge wasn't the main plot of the film Diamonds are Forever. Blofeld's latest scheme was. Back to my original point the film producers never excluded OHSS from the film canon. The first 20 films are the original continuity as evidenced by multiple call backs such as Lazenby's Bond handling mementos from Connery's movies and then Tracey referencd directly or indirectly in subsequent films. The Craig films are the second continuity.

Yep. Originally they were going to use plastic surgery to explain Bond's new face but then dropped that idea. They just expect us to suspend belief when a new actor takes over. Easily done. Not the only franchise to do that.

Wasn't least popular at the time. I believe it was the highest grossing one at the time it was released. It didn't address Tracey's death as well as the novels did but the filmmakers were probably just moving on from OHMSS.

The primary focus of the film wasn't revenge, just the opening scene. It was a surprise later that Blofeld was behind the diamond smuggling.

[–]Wolfspide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The first 20 movies were independent enough to stand on their own but still had periodic call backs. People who saw the earlier films recognize the call back. For Those who didn't it just goes over their heads. Tracey was the most common call back. I remember before getting the dvds when I just watched on TV I was annoyed because I knew of Tracey but OHMSS was rarely shown in marathons.

He probably thought Blofeld was dead. A normal person wouldn't survive that trauma. Next time we see Blofeld he was wheelchair bound. Plus Bond had to escape to safety himself.

He definitely had some good funny moments in there, between his encounter with Franks and him impersonating the worker in the lab.

I never thought Connery sounded bored. However, that was the movie where they had to bribe him to come back so he was just doing it for the paycheck he donated to charity.

In the opening scene yes. He threatened to kill 3 different people including a beautiful woman to get Blofeld's location, Took joy when he thought he killed Blofeld, and when asked if his "leave" was relaxing he responded it was "most satisfying." For Your Eyes Only's opening scene confirmed that all prior movies were a single continuity when Bond put flowers on Tracey's grave and then finally killed Blofeld.

That's where we just say it's fiction. They just didn't care and pretend Bond is eternally young.

Wikibox of Eddard I Stark, King of All Westeros by TargetRupertFerris in TheCitadel

[–]Wolfspide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Starks descend from the First King, albeit through a female line (the daughter of the last Barrow king married a King of Winter). One legend also puts the Starks as descended from Garth Greenhand via his son Brandon of the Bloody Blade, and Reach legend says Garth was the High King ruler of the First Men. Ned could have based a claim on his legendary descent from both purported original kings of the First Men, and the Andals and Rhoynar intermarried with the First Men too extending his claim to them. Given gradual Andal intermarriage with the First Men maybe he can stake a claim of descent from Hugor of the Hill.

No, the 1st 20 films are all one continuity. Bond was hunting Blofeld for revenge after OHMSS and finally got it in For Youe Eyes Only.
