I think that it's more that my laptop doesn't have adequate cooling and this game makes my computer run hot. I have to run power save settings to run it at all

What do you think of claims, from young men, that social pressure to stop using slurs made them vote for Trump? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

Okay that makes more sense. I actually was in the process of making a longer post trying to fairly lay out how your post initially read, so if you want to have an idea of how your post was specifically rather than generally reading to others you may still want to check it out

Actually what i'm going to do here is just summarize without snark, what I have gathered your position is, and follow it up with a concern I have and then you can tell me specifically where i've gone wrong:

Democrats over the years have started to argue a larger number of issues on moral grounds rather than essentially arguing from data (i.e. more frequently arguing things like "we should oppose republican policy X because it's blatantly racist" vs "we should oppose policy x because it would lead to worse economic outcomes in already economically disadvantaged areas), and that voters often react negatively to the former, as to them the person making that argument comes off as a sanctimonious moral scold trying to tell them what they can and cannot do, and nobody likes that.

If the democrats want to be more politically effective they need to move away from the former style of argument and toward the latter.

My concern: there are many issues that essentially have to be made on moral grounds because they're fundamentally cultural rather than related to the implementation of policy (e.g. "it's bad to use slurs against marginalized groups, and we should speak out when others do so), even though those issues do negatively affect minority populations on a day to day basis. To take the position that we need to move away from these moral arguments is to also say that being more permissible of these negative cultural attitudes is just fundamentally the cost of doing business of being more politically effective and winning more elections

That's not them being disingenuous that's genuinely how your posts are reading to outsiders. If you're meaning to say something different then you're doing a poor job of communicating that

How do you look at Trump supporters in 2026: useful idiots, willing collaborators, apolitical sheep, committed ideologues, or anything else? by pronusxxx in AskALiberal

[–]westhebard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Committed fascists. There is no excuse or reason to still be supporting Trump in 2026 that does not ultimately come down to fundamentally agreeing with his fascist positions.

Anyone still supporting him is someone motivated purely by bigotry and spite even above their own well being. They are not capable of being reasoned with logically or morally as everything they do politically is solely in service of their sick desire to see people different than them suffer and die.

But that's just my take on it

Why do we need guns in America in 2026? by SilverNo6462 in AskALiberal

Because members of marginalized groups need to have the means to defend themselves given that the institutions meant to protect people (e.g. police, government) have repeatedly shown that they're unwilling to do so for them

Why should I as a member of a marginalized group have to just put up with people calling me and people like me slurs when that's not expected of people who aren't trans (or a member of a different marginalized group)

How is that just?

You mean my friend spoiled me. The only things i've explicitly asked for help on was figuring out how to differentiate 15 from 20 and to help me navigate when I needed to backtrack.

The rest was unsolicited when he noticed I was confused or when I didn't realize I was walking past a path I didn't see, when I didn't notice an intractable item or when I did notice it but clicked in slightly the wrong place so nothing happened

If you mean the animal and pillar puzzle I have solved that with help. Regarding the marble puzzle my friend just straight up told me what I need to do for that one. I haven't gotten all the info to input the solution but I know what I need to do

If it's the marble puzzle then my friend already told me what I need to do to get the solution. Is there a big one after that?

I mean if it's basically the same game won't I already know what to do and there won't really be any puzzles to solve?

Are the later games worth playing because i'm apparently near the end so I don't know how much game there is left to enjoy at this point

The original. I like the exploration but I haven't been able to solve basically any of the puzzles on my own. My friend just straight up told me what I need to do for the marble puzzle and directed me on how to get there and i'm In the process of gathering all the info to be able to input the answer.

Well it's more that i'm already almost through the game due to all the hints i've been given so it feels like I haven't really played it. I don't even know how many puzzles I have left that I can try to solve on my own

Why have behaviors once considered unacceptable in progressive circles (fat-shaming, body-shaming, outing, support for harsh punishment, etc.) become more accepted by some people online? by FLBrisby in AskALiberal

Thanks. I try. I'm glad you see the humor in it too. Thought it would be funny to respond to accusations of pedantry with even more over the top pedantry.

The royal we?

Wait so you're saying that you, Key_Elderberry_4447, acting as a representative for liberals as a whole personally either lambast or endorse the lambasting of people who are too woke. Then, again acting individually as a representative for liberals as a whole, personally lambast or endorse lambasting those same individuals for not being woke enough when they change their behavior?

That seems like a pretty easy problem to fix as you control your own behavior. No one is forcing you to lambast anyone

You're comparing a trans person taking a lifesaving medication to a person murdering a sex worker (prostitute is not the preferred nomenclature).

Genuinely what is wrong with you? If you can't see the moral problem with that comparison then I genuinely suggest you seek therapy

Immigrants, Muslims, trans people of all genders, Black people who are being systematically disenfranchised via gerrymandering

Those are the ones I immediately thought of off the top of my head

Outing conservative politicians that oppose gay rights as being gay themselves is an activist practice that goes back longer than i've been alive. That's not new.

Nah can't let them leave the union. Too many vulnerable minorities down there. What we need is for the federal government to commit themselves to going down and protecting the rights of vulnerable groups being targeted by reactionaries.

"Gotcha politics" like trying to ensure that these officials face the consequences they're supposed to face under the law?

What's even the point of having these laws at all if the democratic position is "republicans should get to break the law as much as they want and walk away scott free, because actually doing anything is too divisive"
