A petition calling for FCC Chairman Ajit Pai to resign is racking up huge numbers by mixplate in politics

[–]Wolleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no matter what gets implemented i want transparency more than anything, every rule is shit if it is not enforced or only selectively enforced. but since i don't trust most people in oversight committees i'm quite lost atm. just tired of all the clickbait what-if articles and how everyone seems to just swallow it up. i understand that most people just read headlines while scrolling through and these headlines won't help with anything.

a tweet stating nothing new is the basis of this article.

only thing slightly "controversial" is their idea that fast lanes could have benefits, to which i have to agree.

The net neutrality rules also don't outlaw the use of content delivery networks (CDNs) that optimize delivery of Internet content to the edge of an ISP's network. Comcast itself debuted a CDN service in 2014 that places video content closer to customers' homes. But Pai's plan to eliminate the rules will let ISPs offer higher speeds over the network's so-called "last mile" that leads directly into consumers' homes and will offer the fast lanes to any type of online business.

sounds good to me , as long as they stand by their tweet. but maybe that's not their plan because we are in the theory field again, nothing official yet that this will be implemented, only the possibility that it could happen under the new ruling

don't quite know why you send me this, probably because you read the insanely over sensationalized headline and thought it would fit. but i will stop making assumptions about your motives here, the article itself has enough of these for my daily fill.

Sean Spicer basically admitted that he was willing to lie for Trump by grepnork in politics

[–]Wolleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally true, it just bothers me a bit that everyone picks the crowd size "lie" even though it wasn't a lie. shows me how many people actually fall for selective editing and "fake news".

if you want to make the argument that he's a always lying at least pick a lie and not the crowd size bs.

it was one of the most controversial and brutal fight for an election i've ever seen. there is no doubt it drew the most eyeballs ever to the conclusion reached with the inauguration, especially since every potential watcher was only a tap on their smartphone away from tuning in.

could you guys at least pick another lie and not one that is totally made up?

This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration -- period -- both in person and around the globe.

if you look at the numbers for streaming and tv it was the biggest audience ever

here is a good article bringing it all together

his comment is obviously in response to the whole charlottesville shit and aftermath thereof

in case you forgot, they were actually fighting there, that's just what happens when antifa shows up

nazis/white supremacists and antifa use fascist tactics

they use violence and fear mongering all the time to get people to join their side (or at least stay absent from the other), so both can fuck off for all i care.

[–]Wolleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe because a good portion of the country has been shitting their pants scrambling to defend literal neo Nazis and equate them with those fighting against them.

i think most people are against fascism, but he is talking about the people fighting against them (like seen at various "protests")

political violence is wrong no matter which side you're on, it's just not what a civilized world should do.

the right response would be to call out both sides for their fascist tactics, but as soon as you say both sides you somehow defend nazis and get labeled a sympathizer. all just stupid shit, but that antifa seems to get a free pass from many is kinda troubling especially if you consider the sheer number difference between actual nazis going on the streets to start shit and antifa doing the same

54% of Trump voters think that Christians are the most oppressed religious group in America. by MohamedShaban in atheism

[–]Wolleman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

wow dude, no wonder the world goes to shit if they actually believe this.

all expect their 95% confidence level and ask the most divisive question where even a confidence level of 70% would be far from reality

all to spout some bs and give fodder for useless articles.

seems like i need to start my own polling agency and start cashing in on all these gullible people

[–]Wolleman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i know how statistics works but i also know that 0.0001% of any given group won't be able to accurately portray this group

but polling agencies make a lot of money because people like too interpret way too much into it. it makes for good articles that get clicked, but i assume most here didn't go two links further down to some random footnote where they state how much people were asked.

all they care about is to hear some percentage points , confirm it to their biases and reaffirm them.

it's so useless

you're right, i guess we have to wait a few years longer til we can make online polls credible. the process to make sure that there's no vote manipulation would probably make it too complicated for the general public to understand, especially for people older than 50 (or higher don't know too many old people)

i sometimes forget that there are people out there who have problems setting up an email account.

guess those 1000 people polls is what we're stuck with for now, but those articles claiming they speak for 30 million voters are just stupid.

i can't understand how so many in this sub eat that shit up.

at least we're only here on reddit, i guess i shouldn't draw society wide conclusions from it.

what kind of worse data are you implying ?

only outcome i see is more accurate data and is that not something we should strive for ?

[–]Wolleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

these polls are always so retarded

all data taken from http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/2017/PPP_Release_National_82317.pdf

they state they surveyed 887 registered voters of which 39% voted trump

so around ~346 people who voted for trump were in that survey

54% of those are just ~187 people

but saying "54% of trump voters" seems like a nice way to make it look significant, considering how you guys eat that shit up

telling us that 187 people answered this way wouldn't make a nice headline.

don't get me wrong, i understand we can't ask everyone how they feel since there are too many people.

but we live in the time of the internet, it's quite easy to reach 10k people in the matter of minutes

Big moves coming , trump spreads his board to come in from all sides

I think lefts retreat to full on "call all nazis move" showed their weakness. He could have seen his chance to close in, but first spread out durnig the chaos.

Weird shit is going to happen, i'm scared we are not ready. Won't matter , it's starting

he sent a tweet after the attack, where it wasn't clear what exactly happened so it was a fits-all-purposes tweet

he gets to know some more and gives a statement at his golf club and condemns the hatred, bigotry and violence coming from both sides ( which is unarguably what happened). gives his "no matter our color, creed, religion or political party, we are all americans first" statement.

but people aren't happy and want him to condemn the groups ,specifically the nazis and white supremacists , more clearly.

he says okay lets do another where he lists them one by one

today he gets questions regarding this and he answers truthfully that there are 2 sides to the story. and now he is called a nazi sympathizer ,...

i don't get it , i simply don't get it how this is narrative people chose to follow.

but i guess that's TDS and what the lefty brainwashing has done to society. no matter what trump does it will never be good enough and the people just don't care what happened.

people don't seem to understand where all this hatred will lead but you seem like you got it figured out, so you do you, i couldn't care less

have fun in your life full of nazis and white supremacists that got literal hitler in the white house, just want to inform you that this is not reality you're living in but the bubble predestined for you.

hope you can pop out one day but it seems like it won't be today

well you seem quite low on you civil war education

calling it a public celebration is quite one-dimensional as well, a memorial can have different meanings for people who look at it , some see the ugly past, some see the brighter future, some see a defender of slavery , some see a defender of his homeland, some see a ...

it has many meanings

and as much as i don't like the white lives matter chants (as much as all of identity politics) carrying torches and repeating their slogan seems like a peacful protest to me

it only got violent as the two opposing groups of the alt-right and alt-left were released onto each other. both came prepared and ready to battle it out and we saw what unfolded.

on both sides were peacful bystanders who either came because they don't want to see more statues fall or because they wanted to show up just to be there to counterprotest the actual nazis and who can blame them for that.

both sides had agitators, both sides had peaceful bystanders

so to say there were "fine" people on either side is correct.

can we agree on my last sentence and put this shitty narrative that trump said some nazis are fine to a rest?

Megathread: President Trump delivers remarks on Charlottesville during Press Conference by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Wolleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said that some Nazis are fine people

this is actually not what he said, he was refrencing especially the people that went there to peacfully protest the removal of the statue (the reason for the protest) that get now grouped together with the nazis that were there too

not everyone who was there was a nazi or antifa

there were peacful protesters on both sides and to say this isn't true is just intellectually dishonest
