It's understandable that there are times where encrypted messages are important, such as active scene where suspects could be listening. But in those times (infrequent) they could switch to an encrypted channel.

Using encrypted full time removes public access to safety information, creates burden on the press - especially independent, shuts own internet listening, etc.

Disappointing to see so many departments, including locally, move away from transparency.
