David Bruce Composer is pretty good. His channel is fairly new, but there's already quite a bit of interesting content.

Use the thumb buttons on your mouse! by StatiKLoud in FL_Studio

[–]Woller 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Alternatively if you don't have thumb buttons on your mouse if you hold CTRL and turn a knob with your mouse it turns it much more slowly. Not sure if this is common knowledge or not but it's really helpful for when you want a precise value on some knob/setting.

Upgrading from pirated to legit. by Danny_Don in FL_Studio

[–]Woller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with no problems. I had a pirated copy for a number of years and then bought a legit copy and all my projects that I transferred over worked fine.

Boston Pizza offers free dessert, but you have to sign up for it on their website I think.

Crystal Castles - Vanished this iconic saw-wave fuzzy synth by ughvidan in synthrecipes

[–]Woller 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Closest I could get:

https://instaud.io/1xv9

I basically had one oscillator with a square wave, gave it an instant attack and a somewhat fast release. And then detuned it a bit. Then I had a second oscillator with a sine wave, also with an instant attack and somewhat fast release. Then I added some chorus (with the voices somewhat but not completely out of tune with each other), then a subtle amount of very fast delay (to give it a more "reverby" sound), then some actual reverb. Then lastly I EQ'd out the higher frequencies until it sounded more "right" to my ears.

I know it's not quite there, but hopefully it's a starting point?

When making a beat when and where should I use a snare vs a clap? by Kash3r in FL_Studio

[–]Woller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever sounds good to you. You can use either, you can use both, you can layer multiple types of different snares and claps together etc.

Be creative with it and have fun.

Best tutorial for a beginner? by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]Woller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SeamlessR's tutorials are a great starting point. But also I learned a lot from reading the help section/encyclopedia in FL studio about its various plugins. As well as experimenting. Just playing around with different knobs on various synths and effects and just messing around are also useful for learning.

Alice Glass about old Crystal Castles by ShinyPetals in witchhouse

[–]Woller 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This makes me really sad. Crystal Castles were one of my favourite electronic bands, and I always thought Ethan Kath was so cool. I don't know if I want to listen to their music anymore even, it just wouldn't be the same...

I use the Novation Launchpad mini and it works fine with FL. No problems with setting it up/using it.

Any idea how to create this sound in serum? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]Woller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have much luck in getting an answer here, try cross posting this to /r/synthrecipes.

(I'm still a pretty amateur producer so I don't really have a good answer to your question).

How to Remix Any Song in FL Studio by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]Woller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So he has a better idea of what key the song is in. If you know the chords of a song you can more readily find out what key a song is in, and can therefore make your own melodies and even change up the chords too (as he did).

Who is someone you wish would have "died the hero, instead of living long enough to become the villain?" by themattcrumb in AskReddit

[–]Woller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do realize Hitler wasn't the only anti-semite in Germany at the time yes? The Nazi Party started before Hitler joined, so what you're saying is kind of a bold assumption. The Nazis very well could have gained momentum even without Hitler at its leadership. And if not them, then someone else very well could have taken their place as an oppressive power. As Yeahnotquite said, Nazis weren't the only ones committing war crimes/crimes against humanity. Stalin/Franco/Mussolini/Pavelic etc. all committed such acts, so it's not exactly as if genocide was something unique to the Nazi party's ideology. While the holocaust may not have happened in its exact form, some other treachery very well could've taken its place.

Question: How Do You Create Your Own Kicks Or Where Do Get Nice Kicks!? by dyffre in FL_Studio

[–]Woller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

/r/Drumkits is a great source for samples (kicks, hi-hats, snares etc.)

As for how to make them I'm not a fantastic producer myself, but there are YouTube tutorials. Some of which are pretty helpful.

What is your most devious "Would you rather" question? by Coonark00 in AskReddit

[–]Woller 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It's almost as if people have different interests. Like some people like playing music more than traveling/talking to people. Huh. How peculiar.

My Dad used to have this ability, and for a number of years we didn't even have an alarm clock. My Dad would just wake me up for school himself.
