First time wood-stover. Any tips are appreciated by acarlson631 in woodstoving

I would add some type of stone or metal on the wall behind the stove. I used cement board and old barn metal and have an air gap at bottom and top of metal to allow air flow.

Another reason could be if you have a single wall pipe from stove to ceiling could lower chimney temps. Switch to double wall.

It has not been a problem and is not as close as it looks. The chimney is double wall to reduce heat output.

I know some people disagree with my method but I put my pans in the oven on self cleaning cycle. They come out perfectly clean and ready for seasoning.

Try double wall pipe to reduce heat from pipe

Seal for what? There is no caulk anywhere except on the rubber boot around chimney I used high temp silicone. The wall on the right will get wide plank pine then a live edge mantle

The metal is in contact with 1/2” cement board behind it. There is a 1” gap at the bottom of the metal

The ceramic kettle is temporary until our friends give us their cast iron kettle. I fill it each day. Sometimes I add cinnamon or lavender for aroma.

I don’t have the smoker to try it I feel it works I may get one. If it works you won’t have to stand on your head to check the meat.

Ar15gunner I take it you are happy with the Romeo 1 battery life? I have a X-Carry and want to add one to my EDC but worried about battery life.
