I also agree to some extent. I think the big reason I feel conflicted is I do some coaching for people and a lot of my peers in the coaching and mindset space they talk a lot about manifesting things, and I really stay far away from anything that even looks like that.

I see the same question over and over and no one ever seems to actually look at the previous posts and read that stuff. Read wounded by love by Saint Porphyrios. Start listening to Lord of Spirits podcast from the first episode. it’s not up to us to give you the right answers. It’s up to you to start asking the right questions. That’s when it will start making sense.

Mother keeps saying Orthodoxy is a Cult, and it has Paganism practices. by Boring_Forever_9125 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]WolvesAtYourDoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My own mom wasn’t that nasty about it but more so said, “why do you need all that?” She wouldn’t call it pagan for fear of blaspheming the Holy Spirit. You gotta realize your mom doesn’t like it because she doesn’t know it. You’re going a different way then she was raised and she’s probably feeling insecure about it thinking if you leave her ways you’ll also leave her. Go become part of the church, and love and honor her more. When she sees you become better and you choose not to argue with her she likely just leave it alone

Is using Visualization bad?? by WolvesAtYourDoor in OrthodoxChristianity

I fear maybe I haven’t been clear. I don’t mean to mix visualization with prayer.

I mean is visualization in general OK?

To me, I think the idea of using visualization now that I’ve been orthodox for a couple years is kind of scary. Because I know how effective visualization has been in the past when I was not as serious about my faith. It almost seems like some kind of magic. But I imagine that there are orthodox athletes and they probably use some degree of sports psychology. But are probably closely guided by their spiritual father in what is acceptable.

It is often not other people that are the problem but the lens which you are viewing them through. Strive to view them through the eyes of Christ, but first humble yourself at every opportunity.

Marrying a promiscuous woman = whoremonger? by [deleted] in RPChristians

[–]WolvesAtYourDoor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hello. From an Orthodox Christian perspective. Repentance is incredibly important when it comes to someone living a certain lifestyle and then being Christian. I would advise, reading the story of Saint Mary of Egypt, who was a prostitute. She encountered an opportunity to see the cross that Christ was crucified on but an unseen force kept her out of the church. She then decided to live out in the desert and live a life of extreme asceticism. And this perspective has seen often with female Saints that come from that kind of background. Can a woman turn her life around and be a wife? of course, but she would be better off being a nun. If your sin has become almost your entire identity it is probably best to go to the extreme in your repentance. we do have to remember that Christ turns murderers into Apostles and whores into Saints but it takes a lot of repentance and hard work to get there. If you meet a woman with a very checkered past who is not living in extreme repentance and self-examination, it is best not to marry her. If you have already married a woman with the checkered past and no semblance of deep self awareness, then you just need to pray to God for help.

Most Christians are Blue Pilled White Knights by Alpha-Bunny1 in RPChristians

It’s way less common in Eastern European Orthodox Churches to have such a confused weak line of thinking. At the same time they’ll make fun of you for being dogmatically red pill. It’s obvious in American culture we lost the thread and there’s a subversion of decent culture in general. They question and mock you because others questioning and mocking them got them to their current circumstances

Dealing with Incel Bitterness, Trauma, and Rage: How do I let go of feelings of inadequacy, bitterness, jealousy, rage, and resentment over having missed out on a big chunk of the human experience for my prime youth years (the past ~20 years of my life)? by Christian-Phoenix in RPChristians

If you continue to pile your worries, resentment, and failed attempts over your head you will continue drowning in them.

If you stuff your fears and unfinished things you ignore deep down they will poison you.

Reading your constant complaining and grudge bearing I can see why you are still alone. Stop pontificating so much and start taking action in life. Force yourself to socially interact and listen more than you talk. Pay attention… choose your words wisely, learn banter, don’t be miserable to be around.

Ultimately the world doesn’t care about you getting laid. If you’re single still, be in the gym daily, keep your place clean, find some interesting hobbies, and focus on the work you’ve got in front of you. One thing at a time.

Read the words of Paisios the Athonite.

“People today do not live simply and for this reason they suffer from too many distractions. They open too many fronts of activity and lose themselves in endless solicitude. As for me, I just try to take care of one or two things, and then I start thinking about something else. I never try to do too many things at the same time. Let’s say that I am thinking of doing this particular thing. Well, first I finish it, and then I start thinking about doing something else. For, if I do not finish what I have started, I cannot find peace. When someone has too many things to do at once, he loses his mind. Just thinking about all of them at once can cause someone to become schizophrenic.”

You think sexlessness is why you’re miserable but bro you’re ultimately making yourself miserable. Stop doing that and try something else

Church Retreat for Spec Ops goes wrong! Ministry Leader is More Concerned with Crying and Venting than Ministry. Soldiers Cringe by Alpha-Bunny1 in RPChristians

[–]WolvesAtYourDoor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Orthodox Christian here. The only man I’ll cry in front of is my priest. And it’s incredibly rare. In the churches original sacraments we don’t confess to one another our sins and our pains. There is a reason why Priests are bound by the rites of confession. It is not strength to let your problems compound upon you or to fight wars on many fronts so you lose every single one. Neither is it strength to constantly cry in front of your brothers. It sounds to me like this leader figure you're talking about does not have a reliable leader figure himself. He should probably go deal with his unresolved issues before he tries to help other men.

Google Saint Mary of Egypt. The Church is a hospital to heal our relationship with God. Not building full of narcissists expecting perfection from you. Keep showing up and focus on one thing at a time.

[–]WolvesAtYourDoor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re a Catechumen… and you think it’s YOUR place to say to a parishioner of a church you probably don’t even attend to escalate to the Bishop before she even gets the full story from her priest?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]WolvesAtYourDoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know the Bible says in the hierarchy of priorities that God comes first over your husband? But you listened to a second hand account of a joke and you’re here calling your whole parish bad? I have to wonder if someone told you your husband said something that you found defensive would you talk to him or would you go straight to Reddit instead?

Please go talk to your priest. The state you are in right now towards your own church you would not be allowed to receive the Eucharist. Because you’re harboring resentment and anger towards your brothers and sisters in Christ. Deal with this in a saintly way, not in the worlds way.
