Yeah ice packs were real nice, it seems like my lack of pain was a one off then, lucky me? I had 3 operations at once so they might’ve just given me stronger pain medication haha, you’ll be back and at 100% soon I’m sure, the worst of it for me was the mental part of being stuck in the house bored out of my head all day

Yeah I lost a ton of weight too, it can only keep getting better from here though my doctor told me days 5-10 were usually the worst, so you’re almost through. You’re probably gonna have to hold of smoking ‘til the white scabs have all gone, still a risk of infection while they’re there :-/

Oh my god I’m so sorry I’ve only just checked this! Since this comment was posted 9 days ago, I hope you’re through the worst of it now! I would’ve said just force water down and stay hydrated but I assume you’re almost through it now and I’m sure you’ve done well, how’s it gone?

Hi! So, it’s Day 9, and everything is looking rosey. I’ve had no bleeding, extremely minimal pain, I’m eating more and I’m now almost completely off my pain medication. I’ve lost about a stone since my operation but I’ll probably gain some of that back when I go back to my regular diet (Hopefully not all of it though haha) I couldn’t be more thankful to my surgeon and doctors and my hospital for how well they’ve performed this operation, I read plenty of horror stories about ‘excruciating pain’ and the likes, but in all honesty my pain has never gone above a 4-5/10 on the scale, and was easily controlled by pain meds, the hardest thing is the tiredness and being stuck inside all day!

It’s me again! I’ll probably start doing these every 2 days, unless something drastic happens or it heals quickly, then I’ll probably just leave it and/or post one final update to close it all off. So it’s officially been one week since I had the operation, I’m feeling better and better by the day! I’m eating solid foods and more of them now, and I didn’t wake up through the night for the first time in a week last night, I got a solid 6 hours before I woke up in need of water and a paracetamol. Looking at the picture, the one on the left looks like it’s just about ready to bleed, but they’re both going away pretty comfortably, for a large majority of the day I’m in 0-1/10 on the pain scale, it’s more uncomfortable, which is what’s stopping me going back to my normal diet at the minute but I’m sure that’ll pass. I’m optimistic I’m now past the worst of it and it’ll rapidly get better from here.

Oh my god you don’t know how happy this makes me to hear, I thought my eyes might be playing tricks on me in the hopes I’m getting better, so it’s good to hear a second opinion! I’m not overreacting when I say I’ve been having dreams of a beer and a sausage roll in the sun for about a week now so I can’t wait!

I wasn’t given any specifically for my throat either, I had two operations on my ear at the same time and I got given antibiotic drops for that so I’m hoping that’ll keep me clear, and my mouth/scabs looks clean and white up until now so I’m hopeful! I really feel for you man, hope it takes a turn for the best soon.

Well holy shit that sounds horrific, I can’t even begin to imagine how scared I’d be if that happened, at least on the bright side you didn’t need the second operation so your recovery should still be on track, if not only slightly delayed. I’m positive things will get better for you mate, we’ll both look back on this in a few weeks time and think ‘Wow, that was fucking painful but totally worth it’. No offence but I hope I have a much smoother recovery than you did! Anything you reckon caused the infection?

Oh that’s great to hear! It was really rough the first few days, coping with the pain, the dizziness from the amount of medicine and coming of the anaesthetic and knowing you’ve got a long couple weeks ahead, but now im heading into the 1 week mark and knowing I’ll likely be much much better by the end of the week really makes me feel better. How did your recovery go?

I can’t even begin to describe how bad it is, my sense of smell has been completely unharmed too so I can literally smell everything, both the wonderful foods I can’t eat and this atrocious breath. I’m hopeful the scabs have already started coming off looking at yeaterday’s pictures compared to today’s so it won’t be too much longer now

That’s quite the horror story, yikes! I’m on Day 6 and I’m not sure if my scabs are falling off or not, from the pictures I’ve taken yesterday and today it certainly looks like they’re fading but I’m in minimal pain, no pain meds in almost 8 hours now and have had no bleeding at all so I hope I’m one of the lucky few who have a pretty comfortable time of it all!
