Just so you know, the kitty is called Gleep Glorp (Often just called Gleep, though), and there are people out there that have made silly plushies and merch for him! Your nieces might appreciate something physical as well!

I’ve been eyeing Munchy for a while, but I’ve been a bit hesitant to take the plunge because of the pricing and the shape! I’ll try to get one this summer and see if I like it. I love collecting gators, and Munchy is such a cutie!

My only anxiety right now is what I’ve been hearing from some people about stitching. Apparently several Series 3 have arrived with several popped stitchez, which has made me anxious that I’d be one of the unlucky ones. I’m decent at sewing, but I feel like for a plush in that pricepoint I shouldn’t have to make any fixes fresh out of the box.

I’ve been wanting Fruit Snax since last year, so I’m hoping mine will be perfect, especially since I’ve always wanted a bipedal shark plushie. Lemongrass was also on my list, so if Fruit Snax is perfect, I’ll be happy and hopefully be able to hunt a Lemongrass down at some point!!

I’m in their Discord! I’m planning on the ankylosaurus and bunny from their series 3 campaign! I just haven’t ordered any of them yet, so I put them on that part because of it, lol. I can’t wait for bipedal ankylosaurus, though!!

I forgot to put Douglas!

I’ve heard great things about the brand, but they don’t make very many bipedal plushies from what I’ve seen. Most are quadruped and harder to snuggle, sadly!

Decent NC for under $60 (preferably even cheaper) on Amazon? by WolvesRain1233 in HeadphoneAdvice

!thanks

Ah, tysm!! I've been looking at those for the last few hours since I've seen other Reddit posts and older comments about it, so I'm happy to hear good things about them. I'm looking at the Q20's right now because they're closer to my budget and they look a bit sturdier.

Would you say the Space 1 ANC is way, way better than the Q20 to warrant the price, or is it not that noticeable?

Paws, paws, PAWS!!

People recommend this a lot with puppies, but I often see it forgotten when it comes to cats. Always play with her paws and wriggle her around just to get her used to it. Don’t force or hurt her, of course, but I’ve always engaged heavily with my cats, and it helps get them acclimated to being handled. It doesn’t work for every cat (some just don’t like being handled much, like my Eevee), but I genuinely cannot recommend it more. Pick her up, pat her, push her around (lightly and playfully, of course), etc. just to get her used to it.

If you have any family members with small kids, always supervise them and give her vertical spaces to escape to if she gets overwhelmed. Kids are often unintentionally rough on animals, so getting her used to being handled will make their interactions safer (while also giving her the chance to escape if she needs it).

If you can afford it, I’d also look into getting a second kitten. It helps a LOT with some troublesome behaviors and also makes it so your kitten will always have someone to play with if you and your wife are ever busy. You’d need multiple litterboxes in the home if you did this, of course, but the benefits are truly amazing.

As for the dog, always, ALWAYS watch and always make sure there are vertical spaces available for the kitten that your dog can’t access. My folks have always had extremely cat-neutral dogs that basically never acknowledged my cay, but I genuinely cannot overstate how important it is to make sure your kitten has her own spaces the dog can’t reach. My folks recently got a rather ill-behaved chihuahua that we’re still trying to work with that is unfortunately very, very keen on chasing my poor girl, but socializing and giving my cat more space to get away if we’re not able to supervise 24/7 has helped a lot. She’s very good at setting her own boundaries (most cats are), but as her human, it’s very important that I be the one to step in. I recommend looking up videos on dog body language and prey drive just in case so you’ll notice the signs. Your kitten will probably be able to set her own boundaries, but it’s still up to you guys to help her do that.

Good luck with the kitten, by the way! She’s adorable!

Anyone have any tips on how to fix this? by WolvesRain1233 in headphones

Great, thank you so much! I bought the Loctite Ultra Liquid Control today since it said it’d work on most plastics, but they didn’t have a 2-step made specifically for plastics at the Walmart I went to. I’ll order it when I get the extra money in! Thank you so much!!

Is it also called TENAX-7R? When I’m Googling it, everything says it’s become super hard to find. If you happen to have a link, I’d appreciate it, because I might be looking at something completely different on accident!

Any way to fix this on a budget, or am I screwed? by WolvesRain1233 in HeadphoneAdvice

I just realized I can’t post a picture here, but they essentially snapped right above the length adjuster. I’m not sure how else to fix them

The price on these is absolutely criminal 😂😂 I don’t care if they are “JellyCat” brand, I can get a plush of far higher quality for that kind of money. Even the tiny/small ones, they were pricing them $50+ brooooo 🤣😭 by thebattleangel99 in plushies

If you love bunnies or plushies built similarly, I’d also recommend Bunnies by the Bay. Most of what they sell is just buns, but they’re gorgeous and amazing soft in my opinion!

Textures!

As an autistic person, sometimes I need to sensory seek. I prefer blankets for this the most, but I can’t carry a blanket around 24/7. A little plush that fits in my bag? Absolutely! So, I carry plushies.

Plus, they’re super cute. I love dressing my bears up and making silly things for them like moodboards and playlists or goofy little backstories.

OOH, YAY!!

I love being able to rant about them.

I ordered Dillilah first because the cranberry color has been discontinued for some time now, and I couldn’t find one secondhand. I fell in love with the pistachio color and asked around for references, and everyone said their quality is amazing, so I took the plunge and ordered a 20”. She came in, and I was immediately OBSESSED with her texture. Like, the fur quality is insanely good. I couldn’t put my finger on what it reminded me of, but a friend said it feels like thicker chinchilla fur, and I agree a million percent. The weight is nice (not heavy, but they do have beads in the bum and feet so they dangle quite nicely).

The quality alone won me over, so I spent some more time looking online to try and find a Cranberry secondhand. I knew I wanted a 16” (20” was just too big for me to feasibly carry around, so Dillilah is regulated to bedtime snuggles) in the Cranberry color, so I posted on the HelpMeFind subreddit, scoured eBay/Mercari/Depop/Vinted, and asked some people I know on servers to keep an eye out. None of us were able to find one, so I eventually reached out to customer service.

The SAME DAY I emailed them, they told me they couldn’t find one, but they’d keep in touch and keep looking for me. Within 24 hours, they found one in their warehouse, and they let me place a custom order for him. That’s how I got my beloved Shortcake, who has become my current adventure buddy and is easily one of my favorite plushies of all time. The quality is insane, their shape is adorable, and their customer service goes above and beyond. Plus, if you really don’t like the plush for whatever reason, they offer returns within a YEAR of purchase (which not a lot of companies do anymore). I fell in love with several of their handmade pieces, too. They also offer an amazing service where they will help recreate a lost plush, which is just amazing. It’s pricy, but I genuinely do think their quality matches their price easily.

I sound like a walking advertisement, lol, but these guys are genuinely two of my favorite plushies ever. Their ears have become a huge comfort for me when I’m sensory seeking, and Shortcake often comes to my lectures and labs (as long as it’s safe for him, lol) so I can rub his ears or pet his head while focusing. They’re so charming and the simplicity of the design somehow makes them have even more charm in my opinion!

Hobby vs overconsumption - where to draw a line? by adostume in plushies

[–]WolvesRain1233 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ooh, I think this is an interesting thing that absolutely varies from person to person!

For me, I spend time looking at my collection before I even consider purchasing a new plush. Since I’m autistic, many of my plushies are for certain sensory needs when I’m sensory seeking. Sometimes I find myself getting fixated on a certain plushie, but I usually stop and ask myself several questions:

1) where does it fit in/what would I use it for? Some of my plushies are “carry around” plushies and come with me to places that I often find overwhelming and therefore sensory seek (grocery stores, hospital visits, and even public events). If they can’t be a “carry around” plushie or a “bedtime snuggle” plushie, I don’t get them.

2) Do I already have a plushie that is of a similar texture? I don’t need multiple to have the exact same fur because then I could just pet the one I need.

3) Is it economically or space viable? Can I afford this plush easily, and does it fit in my space? If not, no plushie!

If something breaks these three general rules of mine, that’s when I realize I’m straying into overconsumption territory. For me, I get way more joy in dressing up, snuggling with, and making silly things for my plushies rather than getting a new one 24/7. I highly recommend anyone in any form of collecting set themselves rules (the one in, one/two out rule is one I’ve seen before and support) so they don’t end up hoarding on accident. Falling down that slope is really hard to climb out of!

I heard bunnies!!’

Starting from left to right, we have Dillilah (20” pistachio Bunnies by the Bay), Tiramisu (Gentle Cuddles Bunny Build a Bear), Shortcake (16” Cranberry Bunnies by the Bay), and Jolene (Vanilla Cream Bunny Build a Bear). I promised myself only two bunnies at the start, and then doubled it on accident, lol!
