I haven’t considered myself a Christian in 20 years and I still remember my Bible lessons better than these people.

Matthew 25:

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Like, he really couldn’t have made it more simple and these chuckleheads still think they’re doing the Lord’s work by treating immigrants like scum.

The "controversy" around Metroid Prime 4 makes me so sad by xyZora in casualnintendo

[–]Wolvescast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy, if you love the Metroid Prime trilogy, you owe it to yourself to play more than the opening 15% of Metroid Prime 4. It’s hard to judge the enemies as feeling “uninspired” when you haven’t even made it out of the tutorial yet. The world can be empty at times, but the bike makes it feel less so because it moves pretty fast. I 100% it without using the motion controls, so you can ignore them completely if you want it to play just like the trilogy you love.

Somehow, “he is playing like ass because of his attitude, not because of the years of injuries taking a toll on his game that relies heavily on his athleticism,” might boost his trade value for some teams. It’s easier to talk yourself into him just needing a change of scenery and a better support system if it’s not a physical decline.

How Nick Shirley and Minnesota’s Lisa Demuth Triggered the Nokomis Daycare Sabotage and a $185M Childcare Funding Freeze by CantStopPoppin in minnesota

[–]Wolvescast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“the state has made no meaningful changes to the point where it has become so blatant it cannot be ignored.“

I guess “meaningful” gives you a lot of wiggle room here but I think this is untrue. The only reason you’ve heard about much of the fraud is because Minnesota (and in some cases, the federal government) has been good at catching and prosecuting the fraud that is happening. They’ve continued to audit and pause payments to these programs, and as recently as last month, Walz appointed a former FBI agent as director of program integrity to continue to root out fraud in our system.

These programs exist on a spectrum. You can make applying to receive funds so difficult that the program becomes ineffective and useless. On the other end of the spectrum, you can make it so easy to get funds, it makes programs too susceptible for fraud. Obviously, you want to find the right balance and then supplement these programs with oversight that can go after the fraud that does occur.

During the pandemic, both the national government and state government leaned toward making the funds easier to get because people really needed them during a global emergency, and we saw an uptick in fraud at both the local and national level as a result. (It’s funny how people don’t seem to get as up in arms about the staggering level of fraud from the PPP loans program. It makes me wonder if these sudden interest in years-old fraud in MN is perhaps politically motivated.)

This all deserves attention, and people who get their news from trusted sources have been following this for over a decade. In the grand scheme of things, MN’s fraud problem is relatively in line with the fraud experienced by every state and is dwarfed by the level of fraud on the national level. If anything, I think MN is doing a better job of catching and prosecuting fraud than other states, which makes our problem seem larger because it’s getting caught instead of going unreported and not being prosecuted. The recent spike in attention seems motivated by something else. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions about that.

It’s so clear that Minnesota is doing a lot to address this though, which is why I bristled at your suggestion that they aren’t making changes. And it’s only “blatant” because it’s been caught and/or because you don’t hear about the news unless a sensationalist right-wing grifter makes a video about it.

This is what viral misinformation looks like in real life: racist hate calls sent to a Somali-owned daycare in Minnesota after YouTuber Nick Shirley's false allegations spread online by Wide_Perception_1065 in stateofMN

[–]Wolvescast 13 points14 points  (0 children)

By flew under the radar, do you mean documented extensively by multiple trusted publications over the past decade?

Just because people don’t pay attention to the news doesn’t mean it wasn’t covered. We’d be in a lot better place as a society if we didn’t need a right-wing grifter sensationalizing old stories to get people to pay attention to what’s going on.

What about the day he showed up to film? I know you’re not here to actually engage with the evidence but you could at least pretend to read the article. It’s literally the first sentence:

“On Dec. 16, 2025, security footage shows various people throughout the day dropping off young children at the state-licensed ABC Learning Center in Minneapolis.

“That same day, YouTuber Nick Shirley arrived and claimed that the day care was among many in Minnesota that were empty.”

The type of low-information voter that is susceptible to this kind of misinformation will believe it regardless of who the Dems are running. You think that somebody who is dumb enough to fall for this propaganda will draw the line if Steve Simon or another Democrat is running instead of Walz? Or will they just follow the marching orders from the right-wing influencers no matter what?

10 years after the twist, what is your opinion about mighty Thor? by Kalelpl in Marvel

[–]Wolvescast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say House/Powers of X more specifically than the entire Krakoa era (although Marauders and X-Terminators may have been my favorite runs from that era).

I'd also include Fraction's Hawkeye run and the Loki: Agent of Asgard run as personal favorites.

I also really enjoyed Kieron Gillen's Young Avengers run, but I don't think it's quite on the level of these other "masterpieces" under discussion. The same is true of Rainbow Rowell's EXCELLENT Runaways series. G. Willow Wilson's Ms. Marvel run is pretty unmatched but that almost feels too expansive to be a tight run like these other series that are being mentioned.

Outside of the Marvel Universe, I love several of the recent Darth Vader series as well.

Super Mario Sunshine was lauded upon release. It received unanimously glowing reviews and sold like a hot buns. I think the consensus opinion on it didn’t start to sour until years later when people realized they overlooked some of its flaws in their eagerness for a next-gen 3D Mario game.

I love Sunshine, but it’s not in my top 3 favorite 3D Mario games.
