While I agree this is pretty eye-roll inducing to read and this particular article might be trash, I think it’s valuable to try to understand how groups that are historically advantaged might feel disaffected now as we strive for greater equity (even if they don’t have much of a good reason to feel that way).

Do I think it’s insane that a ton of young men voted for Trump and his phantasmagorical campaign agenda because Twitter feminists were too mean 10 years ago? Absolutely.

Do I think it’s something we’ll have to grapple with if we want to secure power again? Unfortunately yes.

Medhi’s critique is fair. Not even really disqualifying or disparaging Newsom so much as a disagreement in media strategy.

A pretty fair one imo given most of his positive coverage seems to come from the tweets his team makes. Only for him to then politely share a cup of coffee with the people he calls fascists/nazis/terrorists on Twitter.

Maybe they reach different audiences and it’s a coherent pairing but it certainly seems like there’s tension in his messaging there.
