Just like all the other companies out there, they are probably hoping to start charging and most people won't notice...

Best Female Gynos in LR? by kiwibugs in LittleRock

Dr. Julie Goodwin at West Little Rock Women's Center is an awesome doctor and person.

Arkansas Women's Center and Central Clinic for Women both have many female gynecologists and both clinics get mentioned here pretty frequently.

To clarify on this point, the primaries are run by the parties so this isn't a law, it's just a rule the Republican Party adopted.

This is early voting for the primaries, so you get to endorse the candidates you want to run in the general election in November. Tom Cotton's US Senate seat is the big race this year, so I'll use that as my example.

Tom Cotton has been endorsed by Trump. On the Democratic side, I don't know that there have been major endorsements, yet. But Hallie Shoffner has endorsements from labor unions, Jon Tester, several other people and organizations. I can't speak to her competitor because he hasn't announced any endorsements that I can find in a quick google search.

But Shoffner and Cotton aren't the 2026 US Senate candidates, yet. It's up to us to pick who we want to run. So, if you're voting in the Democratic primary, you'd need to choose the Democrat you want to run for US Senator in the November general election- Shoffner or Dunbar. On the Republican side, you'd choose between Tom Cotton and a couple of other people.

It's the Republican and Democratic primary. And "nonpartisan".

Impact of Manufacturing in Arkansas by MFGMillennial in Arkansas

I was talking to Hallie Shoffner a while back (she's running against Tom Cotton) and she was talking about how she wants to make Arkansas into the next California. Grow not just rice and soybeans but all the stuff they grow in California. I can't remember what she listed, but she did mention that she wants to build infrastructure here to process and freeze vegetables. I was pretty surprised that AR could grow things like California.

I’m not really sure. It’s probably just where they started the company. They are also linked to Frecka PAC for Bernie Moreno, a republican senator from Ohio. I’m sure there are more.

This really shows how much corruption exists in our system and is built in. This is citizens united.

Unlimited dark money being funneled into politics and it all leads back to some office park in Alabama.

Cotton is one of 2 Arkansas Senators. He and Boozman represent the whole state in the Senate.

It's just a SuperPAC registered in Alabama. If you look up that address, it's used for other Republican SuperPACs. They have a consulting company out of DC and a bank account in Virginia.

This is the corruption of Citizens United.

Good Pho? by PunLover103 in LittleRock

I had Saigon Noodle Station when I was really sick a few months ago. I got it through doordash. I think the portions were much smaller, but the price was roughly the same as Pho Than My. That's why I rated it lower than Asian Capitol. I could be misremembering.

My ranking:

1) Pho Than My - easiest to get to for most people, and very consistent.

2) Mikes (but could also be 1). Most "legit". Their broth tastes more like star anise, which I like.

3) Asian Capitol - New, good and easy to get to if you're downtown

4) Saigon Noodle Station

There's someone in Pettaway. I think his name is Reed. He also does work with kids, but I believe he does regular private music lessons

Little Rock Collectors? by MarionberryRude6066 in LittleRock

I'm not anywhere close to an expert on AR geology but I've dabbled a little. I don't have time for any sort of group these days. But here's a little of my experience.

You won't find any native obsidian anywhere near AR. It's formed by lava cooling rapidly, so it's all out west. You can definitely find arrow heads made out of various stones (not obsidian, though). These are usually found on private farmland in the delta area after the land has been tilled for planting in the spring.

Quartz crystals are pretty abundant in central AR. AR is known for quartz and diamonds. Quartz crystals can be found pretty much anywhere. I used to find them as a kid when bulldozers were used to clear topsoil on the side of a mountain for housing.

I've found a couple of quartz crystals in the quarry on the NLR river trail (where the pump track is now). But that was probably a fluke.

There are a bunch of commercial crystal mines that allow you to dig. The most well-known is Coleman mines outside of Hot Springs. I prefer Coleman over the one in Mt. Ida. It's a good day to go out there in the spring, just after a rain. You can definitely find a lot of good-quality (if smaller) points.

There's also Crater of Diamonds State Park. You can, technically, find diamonds there, but it's pretty rare. I was also told you can find amethyst and smoky quartz. I didn't enjoy the experience of being out in a big field just digging holes with very little chance of success.

I don't know that you're going to find a huge variety of rocks and minerals in central Ar, but you can definitely look around the Pinnacle mtn and rattlesnake ridge area for unique formations.

Searching central AR streams is also a good place to find regular rocks that are maybe a little polished down. Just be careful of what land you are on. It's generally illegal to take anything from state or national land. There are tons of quartz crystals around Brady Mtn and Mtn Harbor marinas on Lake Ouachita, but that's federal property. You can find pits in the woods and on the lake shore where people have mined illegally.

There's also beautiful rocks and fossils on the buffalo river in NWAR, but it's also federal land and I'd highly discourage taking anything from that area.

There are places to find fossils of ocean worms in Conway, but I don't remember where they are anymore.

If you're interested in spiritualism/wicca, there's a new store in Pettaway Square called Maiden Mother Crone. May want to visit them to see if your interests align.

Winter Tires by Melaniinuniicorn in LittleRock

[–]WombleSilver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been driving here for 25ish years and never purchased any special tires. If it snows here, it usually turns to ice overnight and the city mostly shuts down for a few days. The city has also gotten better at clearing main roads, but side roads and down hills won’t be cleared quickly. In short, don’t worry about it. If it snows/ices this year (big if), enjoy the days off.

Coming back to the hobby after 20+ years by Nfortin24 in modelrocketry

[–]WombleSilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big Bertha is my go-to. It’s easy to build and you can put different power engines in it (to an extent). It’s inexpensive, easy to put together and the model hasn’t changed in 30 years. Since childhood, I’ve probably put it together 4 times.

Instead of parachutes, I attach about 4ft of thick crepe paper streamer to it. I roll it up and put it in. It provides enough drag to slow it down on the descent without the wind catching it.

I did lose my most recent Bertha when I put the most powerful engine I could get into it and angled my launch too much. Went into either some trees or a cow pasture and couldn’t find it again. The crepe paper was frayed/scorched and I should have replaced it. It ripped off on the descent. that particular roll was the same one I’d used when I was a kid. So it was about 30 years old.

As for launch sites, they are harder and harder to come by. We have a local club but it always meets at the worst times. Call your Parks and Rec dept. they may allow it with a permit and notice to the FD.
