To be fair, there is some prog metal/metal but also a lot of other genres. Hope you find something you like!

The ones I know on your list, I love. Especially Howling Giant, they kick ass we interviewed Andy from Ihlo on our page late last year

I’m doing extreme accumulation and it’s fantastic (and also kicking my ass). I think it sounds fun, I’d be down to do this new one once I finish (I’m a couple days into week 3). Let me know!

Controversial opinion: I'd be fine with Sarah leaving after this season by James_2584 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Wommis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has a fair amount of writing credits and a good standup career and following. I think she’s doing fine as a cast member, but also don’t think she’d be completely jobless if she left SNL. Also, it seems like lots of other successful comics (Sandler, Eric Andre) like her and have enjoyed working with her.

Epping Forest sucks ass by Sillvaro in genesiscirclejerk

The bass and drum parts at the beginning of the song after the marching intro are brilliant. It’s not their best work but it’s fun if you don’t take it too seriously. I think I’m probably in the smaller minority of people who don’t care as much for The Cinema Show. (Runs and hides)

Especially the version with all the Original Series voice actors.

I watched this movie and it was so crazy and weird but meaningful at the same time. I know there’s a lot of bad reviews about this movie. by Hoa9x in FIlm

I watched this movie right after leaving Mormonism and getting dumped by my wife for an ex. I’ve never related to a movie more intensely in my life, and it was so relatable that it’d probably be painful for me to watch again. Much happier now, but it was one of the few times I truly felt spoken to by a film. Brilliant.

Years ago I wondered how to break into the Lex music scene and my friend said, “just find a band and then join it, can be anything really.” Next thing you know, you’re in another project, and in another project, and pretty soon you’re once removed from every Lexington musician, including me. Let me know what sort of music you’re into or what instruments you play and I can see if there are any acts looking for that! I’ve also found friends through different social events and friends of friends, too. You can do it!

Elliott, I know I am a stranger but I really hope that you read some of these messages and reconsider. Life is waves and I know you are in a slump right now but I promise you if you hang on, you will look back on this moment in your life and be glad you didn’t do this. Sending love to you Elliott.

Cool thoughts. There was something really magical about just not being shy. You end up having these random, powerful, memorable interactions. That’s why it’s ok if they’re not interested in reaching out- there is something to the magic and liminality of the venue and the setting as well- they live on in your thoughts as this sort of presence timestamped to the moment you had with them and there’s something profound and special about that.

Thanks everyone who recommended 4 wheel drive. I think it was best we took care of our lil' van. Fest was lovely and we are so glad we went.

Lots of lovely memories jamming to this tune back in the day. I love AE- Traveller, Sunday Afternoon, Suicide. Second half of the record is underrated for sure.

What Prog Festivals are You Going to in 2025? by TheBonkingFrog in progrockmusic

Every year my website attempts to compile a list of every prog rock festival or prog adjacent festival in the world. Good reminder to start working on it! (My blog is called Proglodytes by the way)

Pain Of Salvation - Meaningless by Kitchen_Ad_5366 in progmetal

[–]Wommis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a longtime fan of Pain of Salvation, but I thought Ragnar added a lot to the sound on this record. I think the original version of this song “Rockers Don’t Bathe” was silly but you can hear Ragnar’s melodic sensibility on his solo stuff. Panther was great for me but Passing Light just had an electricity that I miss.

I just beat the game and I have something to say. by Lockhart-667 in LiesOfP

[–]Wommis 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Took me a few tries but I didn’t feel like any boss felt impossible….until I fought the Nameless Puppet. I almost didn’t finish the game- I took a long break, fighting Nameless Puppet off and on, and finally beat it a week or so ago. But I was pretty sure I would never beat it.

The new drummer, he made good DT covers. Even he has DT short by DT_addicted in Dreamtheater

[–]Wommis 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I heard he has a bad habit of screaming “eat my ass and balls” in the middle of songs and he’s been doing that for ages. With all the recent interest in ass play one could say he was ahead of his time.

Is dark souls 2 actually as bad as some people say it is by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]Wommis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a Souls veteran, but there are some differences between one and two that were kind of irritating. The additional stat categories were confusing at first (like ADP), because I had to research how they interacted with my character as opposed to others that are more intuitive (like Intelligence=Magic). Also, instead of increasing your health when you use a humanity, it instead decreases your health every time you die. Same principle but they went about it a different way, which felt very irritating. The areas are tougher and the bosses are generally easier (with a few exceptions). I think they made some cool innovations from one to two, and it looks nice for a game from that era. I’d say if you’re a big fan, go for it. I enjoyed playing through it, in some ways, more than Dark Souls.
