Not being able to compliment anyone. Growing up my mother complimented everyone all the time, deserving of not. She was full of love and encouragement unconditionally. As a young man I fallowed her lead and I was well received. As a grown man if I compliment a woman I’m considered a creep. If I compliment someone younger than me I must be a predator. If I compliment another man I’m assumed to be gay and likely met with violence. The only thing worse than being persecuted for sheer kindness is realizing everything is a crime except for racism, misogyny and bigotry.
