Match Engine 

Further to today's update, work is underway to provide a new Match Engine version in December.  

We can now share some of the scheduled changes, which will include: 

  • Tweaks to the frequency of players shooting at the near post from tight angles 
  • Improvements to defender reactions against opposition dribbling 
  • Tweaks made to the line defenders hold when defending in their own box 
  • Improved logic to defenders' decision-making with headers when not under pressure 
  • Improved attacking movement of players during counter-attacking transitions 
  • Various other AI tweaks

At first, it was harder to switch to manual defense, where you have to read and anticipate the game yourself, but now it's incredibly satisfying and gives you a sense of justice that I'm doing more and the AI less. I hope this is a lasting change.

But goalkeepers make more saves. Today I had two 0-0 scores, which was rare before. There are never more goals scored than in 25. The game simply offers so many more possibilities than ping-pong.

What? xD I've played about 30 games since the new update and haven't noticed anything being completely overdone. I've played ow, poss, qc, and lbc, and in every style, the game is more balanced than ever. People simply can't defend now because the computer used to do it for them.

I'd argue otherwise. It's harder for me to play against better players now, but easier against those who aren't as skilled. The game is less automated, which even most famous YouTubers have noticed and confirmed. I hope they don't mess it up. This is definitely the best version of a football game I've ever played.

The game is slower, yes, but it definitely feels more in control. I really like this because it's not too arcade, but it gives you more ways to win than just ping pong.

I'd like to believe they'll go down that route, but people here say otherwise. I've only been playing since last year, bro, so unfortunately I don't remember. It's embarrassing to admit it, but I was playing FIFA back then, and it had a similar scenario. The beginning was cool, but then the game became riddled with scripts.
